First of all: Thank you to everyone who participated in helping me assess this purple midi skirt. You were really helping me. I realize that most of you preferred to leave the skirt as it is. I have been giving this some thought, and come to the following:

#1 The skirt as it is now. To wear it this way, I will need to wear high heels with it always. It is not practical in my lifestyle, both because I have fuzzy feet, so several days in a row on heels hurt, and also because this is a Winter skirt. When the cold and ice arrives, I will need to wear more flats to avoid falling about - heels on ice, not so cool. I also don't have any coats that won't look ridiculous over the skirt.

#2 The skirt hemmed 3" shorter. I kind of like this length, but I fear that it hits me too low still. It is too long for my coats. Not drastic enough.

#3 The skirt hemmed another 1,5", a total of 4,5" shorter. This length lets me use practically any kind of footwear I like. I could even wear flat oxfords with it. It is still long enough to cover the top of my tall boots, and I think it looks all right with my everyday flat tall boots, too. This is important, because they are my staples in Winter. Now my coats look ok with it, too. In fact, the red coat looks great with it.

I think I might remove some of the fabness in this piece by shortening it. That is of course not good. But on the other hand, it will correspond a lot better with my lifestyle (commuting by bus/train, mostly casual/smart casual environment). I've already removed a weird half-belt that was buttoned on the front waistband. Doing this made the skirt look smoother over my hips, so I think that is good enough, no need for further alterations here.

What says the wise forum? Am I going to ruin it? Will it look too juvenile when it is shortened? Or is this the best solution? Please disregard the way the four-folded hem makes it stand out from my legs, because the fabric is actually very soft and drapey. When it is properly hemmed, it will look much softer.

Again, thank you for helping me! All comments are most welcome.
