Final Boden dress has arrived

Zappos and Amazon have certainly spoiled me for quick shipping and returns. I guess the upside is it takes so long that I forgot what I ordered and it's a nice surprise when I get something in the mail. This is the Hallie jersey dress in an 8P. I think this is my second favorite of the lot except that it's too small through the arms and the waist feels too high. This dress is perfect for work. No topper required, modest and not frumpy (at least to me.) Given the slow shipping, I'm debating on exchanging or just throwing in the towel for now. I'm not sure if this dress is on anyone's radar but I thought it would be helpful to see it on a real person! Thanks for looking!

Another elegant and fabulous option, but can see that it's a little uncomfy on the arms. Back it goes, and onto the perfect frocks you found last week.

I agre with Angie. You got so many great dresses before that you don’t need to fuss over exchanging this one. It looks great but for the arms, which I’m sure aren’t comfortable for you.

Kellygirl - it's close, but you are right to return. Too tight through the arms and too high at waist are problems I’m very familiar with. You sure do look nice in dresses though.

I m not buying anything from Boden at present but am very familiar with their catalogues so it’s a real treat to see their dresses IRL.This one looks smashing on you and not at all frumpy.l know what you mean about the waist though,one of the reasons I don’t buy dresses often from Boden is the positioning Of the waists on dresses .Its is very often too high for me but as Isaid this looks great on you.

I hear ya on quick returns via Zappo's. I wish more stores could reimburse as quickly as they do because it might increase their sales. Boden took about 12 days to issue a refund on a recent return for me. Definitely not a frumpy dress on you though I agree one size up would give you a better fit.

@Angie and Christina: You're so right! I already feel like I've hit the dress jackpot.
@Delurked: Thanks for the sympathy. The other drawback to the dress is the elasticated waist. There's no way to wear this one without a belt.
@Cardiffgirl: I'm glad the photos help you. I love it when Fabbers post their purchases even when they don't fit. It's so helpful to figure out if it may or may not work for me.
@CJ: Boden says it can take 14 days to receive the return. It took almost three weeks to get the credit. It's super long!

This is the dress I wore (with the red jacket) for my presentation. I do like it, and I do have a high waist, but I admit the waist is problematic because it rides up over my round belly. I wish the elastic in the waist wasn't sewn down to the seam. I like wearing it anyway, and maybe someday I'll lose that 5 pounds so that this doesn't happen.

I'd rather not have a self belt, but I've tried every belt I have and none look right.

If the waist and the sleeves bother you, I vote for sending it back.

@Susan: Thanks! You're the reason I tried this dress. It looked so smashing on you. Glad to hear that the waist is high and it's not just me--I think that's why petites don't work on me in general--they seem to me shorter through the body.

That’s the thing with dresses, they may look nice but feel very uncomfortable. The right waist placement and arm comfort are key. That is why I don’t buy too many dresses, they need a lot if homework to get them just right.
I hope you will find the right one for you.

This dress look great on you, but I agree with returning if the fit is not ideal. No reason to keep if it is not perfect.

Boden returns are an issue with Canadians, but deliveries from the UK are not. My order placed Wednesday at noon was delivered the following Monday morning! Free delivery as well and the exchange rate wasn't a deal breaker.

Well, _I_ think you should try the 8 regular, if the waist is high. Assuming shortening the torso is part of making something petite... I really like it on you. And even if the proces is slow, it's free for you... (quiet sob)

It looks really cute on you, but if it’s uncomfortable, forget it.

Zappos is amazing. I’ve ordered something as late as 1pm, and received it the next day.
