Film recommendation: Hunt for the Wilderpeople

I saw a review in Canada of this NZ film which I think is hitting cinemas in North America now....I just wanted to put in a plug.

I love Taika Waititi films (Boy/What we do in the Shadows) and if you like quirky funny yet sentimental films I highly recommend this. It has black humour and there are sad things that happen (I am not a cryer in movies but I did have lots of tears at one point).....

I took my sons (11 and 14) who loved it and quote it regularly....The 11 year old went twice and we took my 9 year old niece too.

I second the recommendation. I took my 10 year old son and he said it was the funniest film he had seen. It was a real NZ film.
I do wonder how some would cope with the accents but maybe they have subtitles for North America.

I'm glad to hear your positive reviews. My husband and I watched the trailer a few weeks ago and the film has been on our to-watch list.

Sally, we loved "What We Do in the Shadows." In fact, I can't make spaghetti without thinking about vampires and bisghetti.

I saw this, too, and loved it! Saw it with my husband and we both laughed a lot. I really must watch "what we do in the shadows" sometime.
