Filling the boot hole -thoughts on these

Hi all, I tried these ones on today. They are leather and are a mottled bronze/black colour which doesn't show well on the picture. Very comfortable.
Do you think the height would work well with skinny jeans and ponte pants?
I am very torn on boots whether to get something like this or something a bit more refined.

I am not very familiar with your wardrobe. I do know that the shoe trend is going toward more refined. But fabbers like Ceit with a very defined tomboy style would still do so well with these.

Are you leaning towards more princely? Knightly? or perhaps wizardy?

Thistle that is exactly the problem. I have no clue what I lean towards. I am all over the map. I have tried endlessly to figure it out, identify the descriptors but just haven't been successful.
I work at home but still want to dress nicely - so very casual. I don't want to appear that I am trying too hard, if that makes sense. Or appear that I am dressing too youthful for my age.
Maybe I should look at a chelsea boot....

What is a chelsea boot? Have you looked at the Sam Edelman Petty's? Comfy yet still fit for a prince. I can also recommend Ecco boots. I have those too, and so comfy but with a bit of polish.

Suz might have more ideas as she also works from home.

thy certainly have the right look for skinny jeans. They look super fun and I would easily see them styled with a plaid type shirt..

Based on the pics you posted last week (I think?), these are really in keeping with your overall vibe with your ankle boots

I do still think that some lighter, taller boots would be a good addition, though.

They're beautiful. I would totally wear them with pants (over skinny and under wider legs) and with skirts.. To me, they have a Victorian/steampunk kind of vibe, very much up my alley. I think even when they are not trendy, this kind of style reads as retro rather than dated.

I love em but I'm a casual, comfort based dresser. I want to be able to stop at the trails with the dogs on the way home from the store.

They may not be polished but I view them as fairly traditional for what they are. Kind of a modified stable/ riding boot but not rustic enough to be gear.

It's really hard to figure out your personal descriptor. What do you reach for when you want to feel good or at least secure for any given occasion.

I like them! I think you could have these for casual looks, and a nice, refined pair for more dressy looks. Room for all!

I like these but they are very casual imo. If you wanted something that was more versatile then I think the Chelsea boot would be better. If you can have both then

LOL, Glory, I was looking at these exact boots yesterday!
I was thinking of these specifically for casual purposes with skinny jeans. They are a nice boot and the leather is also really soft but I'm not sure how versatile they are. I echo the others who have suggested the Chelsea boot - maybe to check those out first?

So maybe one pair of boots doesn't need to be all things - I think that is what I am reading.

I am clearly lost...I have tossed the black ankle scrunch boots and the blue faux leather ones from last week.

Why? I hated the faux leather even though they are fairly new my feet got so wet in them.
The ankle boots really made me feel frumpy.

How does one figure it all out....

There is no way one pair can meet all needs. I could survive with two pairs given my colors and style - the Gidigios (tall, buckled, with skinnies and skirts) and the DV Joust (versatile simple black ankle boot under pants or with skirts). But of course, I prefer a boot for every outfit!

I have a black Rockport pair that is similar in style to these and find the work great with skinnies and ponte pants. But the skinnies must be tight at the calves because this style of boot doesn't have much wiggle room for extra fabric.

I like them! But I agree they would be pretty casual.

One boot can't do it all, alas. It's really true. Despite the fact that for YEARS I made my simple black chisel toe Blundstones do it all. Well, I never wore them with a dressy dress. But with everything else. I didn't look fab, but my feet were pretty happy.

Then again, they are a Chelsea boot and Chelsea boots are my all time favourite footwear. I could have ten pairs of Chelsea boots in different levels of ruggedness and refine and I would still not think I had too many.

Annie Mouse you are so fantastic helping me like this. I don't often wear heels due to life style. I work from home and take my kids to sports stuff. Sometimes I go out but it is still super casual.
I am thinking of ordering the Petty in putty if I can find a pair in Canada that can be returned if they don't fit.
