Filling a hole - ankle boots

We are getting into winter in the southern hemisphere and I live in a wet city. I think a welcome addition would be a pair of ankle boots that I can wear with skirts and my cropped trousers. These are rainboots with sheepskin lining. I live near the shop so could go and try them on.

what are other options for winter boots. I don't like high boots as much these days and I have to walk all day sometimes in the rain.

I’ve decided I definitely like a sheepskin lining. I personally would get a lot of wear out of these.

Sally do you walk or drive to work? I drive and my car is parked outside our house and outside the office, also in your city. I find sturdy ankle boots with a small heel weather-resistant enough for this purpose. I don’t wear any spindly heels. Here are last year’s 2 pairs, both on a reasonable sale.

The rain boots are nice! I am never sure how comfy gumboots would be to walk very far in though. I wear mine in the garden.

I like the look of the boots very much but I don’t think they would be “all day boots” for me. I find my rain boots too hot, not breathable, and not supportive enough, so only wear when outside walking on rainy days. You might have a different experience.

I have regular rain boots, no lining, and I find them extremely comfortable during long walks.

These are great!
If you want some other options, you may want to look at Blondos as a slightly dressier option that is waterproof ... I have two pairs and they wear like Teflon in rain, slush, etc.

If you were open to a mid calf, Hunters are also handy because you can get all the different liners/boot socks, which makes them very versatile for different temperatures .. I have fleece and puffy liners to change out or remove altogether to suit the temp. They do have a chelsea boot style but not sure if they have the liners for those.

I’m a huge fan of rainboots for the winter. So durable. So easy to maintain. The ones you’ve chose look great . My prediction is that they’ll be an instant workhorse.

One word of caution: the ankle opening can rub some, so make sure to wear long socks!

@JennyNZ Those look like really nice shoes and you could dress them up. I drive to walk but am on my feet all day even doing duty outside.
@JamC Yes that did worry me a little as I am on my feet all day.

@ Helena Yes I might consider a longer boot next time.
@notsaf those look great boots and could be an option for a second pair.
@smittie Yes I was worried about them rubbing as that would put me off wearing them.
Update: they didn't have those boots in my size and were going to put them away. However I fell in love with the comfort and height of the pair in the photo. They are over twice the price of the rainboots but so comfortable and will fill the main gap in my wardrobe so got them. Anything else now is indulgence.
