Both dresses look fab on you, and depending on the weather should work for your event (assuming you get a topper for the flowered dress—which is so pretty).

This event is today. I'm going to post a pic later, because I've actually decided NOT to wear this outfit to work - I thought I'd be too cold walking to work from the subway. That would have been true, as it was windy. I have the outfit with me, and thank heavens the dress is scuba and won't wrinkle. I'll leave what I'm currently wearing at work overnight.

The sweater is less orange than it looks on my monitor. I decided that was a better option than a wrap, so that my arms will be more easily covered when I have my coat on outside. I think the bag is not an ideal match (esp for the shoes), but it's festive. This was my best option among bags large enough for my needs today, and I have way too many bags that size to be going to buy another one.

ETA: I'm attending a Members Preview party for this: https://www.metmuseum.org/pres.....te-gardens

Looks great, Christina. Walk carefully, and stay warm outside.

Can’t wait to see

Thanks, Angie and rachylou! It's going to be warmer later, and my route to the museum via subway and bus is not too bad. I do need to go buy some nude sheer tights, which I discovered today that I don't have....

...and I am overdressed compared to 90% of everyone else. Womp womp.

How disappointing that people didn’t take the opportunity to dress up. Seems like that’s the way it is now. Or let’s be generous and assume they came right from work. As long as YOU felt fab, that’s all that matters.

Lol. Such is the state of things. Like at the ballet that I just went to: one person in glittery evening sandals, next person in jeans. I didn’t see sneakers, but I probably didn’t look hard enough. It has all inspired me to comb Pinterest for evening gown ideas. Hahaha! Must. Defy.

Aquamarine, I did feel fab!

Rachylou, I feel like performances of all kinds are a mix nowadays.

Anyway, here I am. In the future,
I’ll just wear normal shoes and black tights, which even the dressier people did. My dress would have stood out even if I had worn those things, and my feet would have been happier. I am glad I wore the dress because it was fun, but I guess people coming from work just wear a nice version of their work wear.

You look KILLER fab, and set the stylish standard. Nicely done, Christina.

That is really lovely on you (shape and colors) and the bag and shoes fit in nicely together. Mixed metals looking good.

You look fabulous! I hope the shoes kept your feet happy. Kudos for dressing up for this event.

OMG, you’re perfect! Absolutely beautiful.

Thanks, all! I think I’d have worn this with nice but comfier shoes, but was really happy overall.

Joy, I ended up walking from the subway because the bus was not coming, and that was a mistake. I can’t walk comfortably at my normal NYC pace in those shoes, since my foot slides in them when I have hose on. They were fine for drinking cocktails and slowly circulating around the exhibit. In the future, I have to find those things to stick in the insoles to stop my feet from sliding around.

Wow! You look fabulous! It’s too bad about your shoes because they’re really cute. And I love your dress. It looks like an event I’d want to go to...

How pretty you look in that outfit! I've never encountered "festive" as a dress code before, but I love it, because to me it suggests clothing that makes you feel happy and special, without worrying too much about what others are wearing. I think you struck just the right note.

This is beautiful outfit you put together!
Nowadays it is nigh impossible to anticipate the perfect note to strike, but also as Angie says, that gives us lots of leeway to look our fabbest!
Also I look at these occasions as “ outfit labs” to try out my ideas, including how to dress up an item or ways I’d dress down so I can wear something multiple ways.

I love the bright cardigan with the dress and the metallic accessories really pop. Too bad others didn’t dress up, but I don’t think your outfit is too over the top even if others were wearing their office attire.

You look great!

Oh you look wonderful! Hooray. I just try to be proud of my efforts if I look the most dressy in a group. Good to know that easier to walk in shoes would fit in though. Uncomfortable feet are not good.
