It’s time for the annual “temptation of the fall fedoras.” And this year there are brown ones, not just black- even more tempting. I love hats, I look good in hats.... but they just seem so impractical.
I mean, straw hats in summer provide shade and hide beach-hair. Beanies in winter are necessary for warmth. But what purpose is served by wearing a felt hat in the fall? It just seems like an extra complication and yet there’s no denying it can really add something to an outfit (provided one remembers to wear it).
Do you wear fedoras? Where and when? How do you deal with the drawbacks: hat hair, what to do with it when you go inside, how to prevent it from wapping fellow subway-riders, etc.
