Fellow Petite Apples - denim question

What is your favourite brand of jeans as a petite apple? I wear jeans alot for my casual wear and my Gap Long & Leans are starting to look raggedy. I do have a few thrifted pairs of jeans I'm keeping 'cause I love the fit, but am thinking of purchasing one "good" pair in a darker wash. Should I go Premium?

I'm kind of a tertiary apple, but I love the Joe's Jeans in the Provocateur cut. They come in petite and have a higher rise to girdle in the appley parts. Lisa turned me on to them, and although I don't wear them often anymore, they are far superior to the L & Ls, which I consigned.

I am far from a connoisseur, so take my very limited experience with a pound of salt, especially because I have never even owned premium jeans, and I have only started wearing jeans again in the last year or so, after decades of refusing to touch them.

My jeans have all come from Reitman's, and have the 5% spandex or so. That keeps them hugging my belly instead of gapping or squeezing, and reducing the amount of bulk they add to my midsection. They are probably the best-fitting pants I currently own, although I haven't been wearing them much since I've been on YLF, just because of summer heat. If they are getting a bit big after the summer, I'll head out and buy some smaller ones. And they come in petite lengths (28 and 30" inseams), so no hemming required.

JR - I actually have a pair of the Reitmans jeans that you speak of but I'm looking for a bit of a different style. They are comfortable though aren't they?

Shannon, I'm not an apple but I am going by what brands I cannot go with, due to the longer inseam and wider waistband. Have you tried NYDJs and Paige? They seem to be cut with a longer rise, just like the long and leans.

I have plently of Joe's, not the provocateurs, but the Honeys. Joe's are great as well. I second Una on that suggestion

I like the Joe Provocateur, Ann Taylor slim leg modern cut, White House Black Market in the short and Kut from the Kloth. My favorite is the Joe's.

My favorite jeans are by American Eagle. They're not expensive, and they do grow a bit, but they fit me better than any other jeans I've ever tried.

I am not an apple but I only wear premium jeans. After wearing them you will never go back. They put a lot of effort in making your bottom look its best, tapper to the legs to make them look longer. Super soft premium denim and great inseam lengths that never have to be altered. I am a size 2 rectangle and some of my favourites are Citizen of Humanity and Hudson jeans.

As long as it's got a nine inch rise, I'm good. So, I do not wear petite jeans, despite being only 5' with 28 inch inseam in stocking feet. Because petite jeans are scaled smaller all over, not just in the inseam. Regular jeans can give you the extra inch or two in the rise, to suck it all in and "lock and load"... at just the right spot.

Favorite brands:
- Urban Outfitters BDG high rise cigarettes -- for skinnies.
- COH
- AG
- Inc by Macy's -- quality is not that great. But rise is.

I do not like NYDJ's. Just can't get them to work for me; they are a bit too high, a bit too mom-jeanish on me. I do like Gap L&L's, they are the only Gap style jeans I've ever had success with -- though I don't like the quality at all. I like Joe Jeans but there's something about the stitching/pockets/denim weight that adds pounds, especially compared to AG. Paige's -- always recommended to me by SA's but never found a pair that worked. Either too hippy (I have narrow hips) or too low in the rise.

Shiny - I especially appreciate your comments about not buying petite jeans despite being a petite. I've wondered about that lately because I definitely prefer a mid rise and most petite jeans are lower than I am comfortable with.

TS, If I can be frank and candid, realizing this is public forum and my face is plastered all over my posts, when you've had kids you get the "mom's apron." Before kids petite jeans and rises worked great on me. Now I need something to, ahem... accommodate for and "tuck in" that apron. It may be just an extra inch in the rise, that's it. Long story short (I am sure you're getting a good visual here) I very often find that -- though I'm decidedly and firmly petite for everything else -- regular size pants, if not cut too loose in the hips and thighs, are JUST what I need for the rise.

I really wish manufacturers would figure this out. Because I'm not getting a tummy tuck and that's all there is to it.

I'm a bit taller, I know, but I can't wear petites trousers, either, for the rise. So I just don't. I buy petites tops, jackets, and dresses when I can (for my short-waistedness) but hem the pants.

I know that my two pair of Esprit trousers which are the best fitting trousers I've ever had are not petite and the rise is perfect.

My shape, whatever it may be, is different than you but I've had good luck lately with Eddie Bauer jeans. No gap in the back and a good fit around the seat and thighs. I was in a store lately and the sales associate said they recently revamped the various fits. At the time they were offering a $5 off coupon for trying on any of the new fits. I'm also one who doesn't typically buy petites but rather shortens a regular fit.
