Anna, that often happens to my clients - I have the state taking over one guy because he is too much for his daughter (or anyone, really)... but often ther eis no one up here and there are lots of single men who came up here to remain wild and free, who are now just alone and vulnerable.
That said, friends and relatives are often there too, so although marriage is one answer, it doesn't always end up working out as planned. My friend with a neuro disorder who needs help herself now has a spouse with a terminal liver disease. I have many single or widowed clients who have other options.
