Feeling better about new direction: lots of pics

I know I said I wasn't going to shop for awhile, but I've been struggling finding interesting basics in my wardrobe that are black or white, so I have made what I hope are a few strategic purchases. I can't remember when I've last shopped strategically instead of emotionally, and I have made several returns and exchanges in the past 2 days to end up with some pieces I'm really happy with.

#1, 2, 5, 6. New white crop top (Jayson Brundsen) with Metalicus tube skirt, Piper full midi skirt, printed midi skirt front and side view. All work looks.
#3 & 4. Piper top and same Metalicus skirt as #1. Fossil bag. I wore this out shopping today. Casual weekend look.
#7-10. Sass and Bide top I bought recently tried with different skirts. All work looks. I think that this top will be such a workhorse. It looks good with slim pants as well.
#11 and 12. New off white top by Cue. It's such an interesting top. It's like a tabard?, open at the back with a sheer top under. Work look. I think this will look best with pencil skirts and pants/jeans.
#13 & 16. New CR pencil skirt with subtle fringing trim, worn with CR top from a couple of seasons ago, never worn before because I forgot I had it! I love it and will definitely wear it now. May wear the skirt to work but the top is more of a going out top.
#14 & 15. Same skirt worn with CR top from last season. Again never worn, but I wll definitely wear it this season as a going out top.
#17 & 18. New casual CR dress worn with vintage belt and flat sandals.
#19. CR dress bought on sale at the end of last Summer. It's a light scuba fabric with raw edges and white top stitched seams. This suits my new direction so perfectly and I think I can add tops over this to make it a work look, and on its own as an evening look.

I feel that I now have some good basics to play with adding in some of my more unusual B & W things. It really feels like I have something to work with now and I feel like I can go ahead and do some more purging.

Just WoW. I think you've done a brilliant job figuring out a Look. And so much of it shows off your gorgeous shoulders and shoulder line, too.

No 19 looks amazing on you!!! But they all look great and like you are travelling in the right direction. The only one I would question is no 9 because there is a lot of colour there! But I have to say, you look very happy in all the pics. And that is the most important thing

Thank you Vildy! We have long hot Summers where I am in Oz, and it's good to have plenty of sleeveless options.

#9 is quite a clash. The back of the skirt is all black and it has a front placement print. I doubt I would wear them together if the skirt was an all over print, but I don't mind just a little bit of print clashing.

You look very happy and rightly so! Good to hear you found some great items you already had, too.

Everything is coming together beautifully. My favorite looks are 11-12, 14-15, and 19.

The Cue top is outstanding!!! What a great piece. Love love love outfit 5, that skirt is just beautiful on you. And the necklines in the dresses are so interesting and flattering...that is something I try to find and it never happens!!! You must be and IT like me;)

Yay! It's amazing what addin just a few pieces can do I love the crop top and #2 and #19 are especially beautiful on you. Did you try the top in #1 and #2 with the skirt in #9?

Thank you again. The 2 new tops are shapes I wouldn't usually try because they're so loose, but I'm really happy with how they look.

Carole I do try to look for interesting necklines and I think it will be more important now that I'm trying to focus on a more monochrome palette. The only downside is that I need to wear a strapless bra with the dress in #19, but it will be worth it for special occasions.

Stephanie, I haven't tried the new top with my placement print skirt, but that's a great idea!

The only other thing I would like now is a dramatic black skirt like the one in the pic. I'm in no hurry though.

I need to continue with downsizing and creating a work capsule (most important as I work 5 days a week), casual capsule for the weekends, and special occasion capsule.

Absolutely LOVE the top in 11/12. That would be a total workhorse in my closet, I can tell you.

These are all fantastic looks, but my favourites are the same as Joy's -- 11/12; 14/15; 19. Absolutely stunning. As Vildy says, you have a gorgeous shoulder line, so why not show it off (esp. in the heat).

I really enjoyed today's casual look, also. Dramatic yet easy.

So glad you are feeling better about the change. Sometimes you need to do a little shopping to make it all work.

Nice mix of conventionally flattering and more daring, less obvious choices. Makes you look like an interesting and elegant woman who can still be surprising.

Happily, you are starting with a fundamentally super attractive foundation! And super nice legs!

These are fantastic outfits on you. They have a fair amount of variety while also looking like part of a cohesive style. My favorites are the same ones Joy picked, and I also love the dress in 17-18. You wear dramatic necklines so well. Congratulations on your progress and results of honing your style.

Wow! Truly fabulous! These all have such flair and drama, without being shocking or uncomfortably edgy. This is a wonderful direction for you, and you are really selecting the perfect items.

CocoC - You look amazing in midi skirts with those simple strappy sandals. I love love the dramatic skirt you are thinking of getting.
Have you tried the top in 7-10 with a skinnier/body con bottom? I think the proportions might be nice.
I love the silhouette in 3-4 as well.
19 is a stunner.

Well, I don't know what your "old" direction was, but all of this looks fantastic and you look very happy. I am lusting after that top in 3-4! I guess I couldn't find that in the states, huh?
