Feedback please: new summer dresses and tops

As my vacation winds down, so too does my spring shopping. Here are some new purchases awaiting your feedback before they make their real-life debut.

Please note that I was wearing leggings into the store, so all tops are shown here with massively inappropriate bottoms. I know this and would never wear any of them as shown.

Tops

1. A purple chiffon blouse with a built-in tank underneath. I'm showing it here both with and without the self-tie belt

2. A green twist top in a very soft knit fabric

3. A black summer-weight tunic

Dresses

1. A blue day dress

2. An eggplant sheath with matching bolero. This is in fact more of a three-season weight, but I was so excited by the fit of the sheath in particular that I went for it.

All honest feedback most welcome.

I like all of them on you but I think that the blue one in the first pic looks best without the belt but that is my personal opinion. The green is a great color on you btw

I love the cobalt/royal blue of the first top and adore the tunic and both dresses. I initially thought the tunic was a dress because it's hard to tell where it ends--regardless, I think it will be a highly functional piece for you. I'm already imagining it with white bermudas and nude wedges for the summer!
Even though the eggplant ensemble doesn't necessarily scream summer, I agree with you on the fit and think this will be a wardrobe staple that you'll use for years. I wouldn't be afraid to separate the bolero and wear it on its own (er, with a top underneath)!

They are all fabulous! The fit of the green top is particularly flattering. I think the black tunic is cute and modern and great for summer. I can't actually tell a big difference in style between with the belt and without, so I think you could wear it whatever way feels the best to you.

I like the dresses a lot. The purple is a bit dressier and not really summer as you pointed out, but the color is good on you and I think the style if classic and you'll get a lot of wear out of it.

The green top is perfect, as are the black and purple dresses. I think the purple is my favorite of the lot.
I'm not loving the first blouse. I don't think it is the most flattering on you.
I"m also not 100% sold on the blue dress. The rounded neckline and the pleating across the chest are not letting me give it 2 thumbs up.

Green top KILLER.

Turquoise dress KILLER. Wear it with your new red bag!

Purple dress combination KILLER.

Blue top is fabulous - quite Grecian and floaty! Out of your comfort done. Perfect with white bottoms.

I'm going to be a complete spanner with the black tunic though (sorry!!!). The cap sleeves are ruining the line for me. I vote return that one. I wish it was sleeveless or had longer short sleeves.

Angie, if I got the cap sleeves removed on the black tunic, would it work for you? I love it and want to salvage if possible.
The floaty chiffon blouse is actually supposed to be purple...is it not showing up that way?

Yes! Thumbs up on the tunic if its sleeveless.

The blouse looks cobalt on my screen, but purple is just as fab.

And FYI, I've had purple garments look cobalt in photos before, so I'm sure your top really is purple in real life and it's just the photo that's the issue.

I guess I'm the odd one out but I'm not crazy about the green top. The way it drapes and wraps around the midsection makes it look like a maternity top to me :\

The only other thing I'm naying is the purple dress with bolero. I like the idea of these pieces separately, but I find them a bit frumpy and aging when worn together. So I guess it's technically not a nay, but a conditional yay.

Everything else looks fab though. The cap sleeves on the black tunic don't bother me but by all means remove them if it makes you more comfortable.

That turquoise dress is stunning from top to bottom, and the neckline on the green top is glorious on you. I think the purple dress and jacket have a retro vibe, and I hear what Maya's saying, they have the potential to veer into dowdy. However, with the right bag and shoes this outfit will have a cool, vintage-y vibe that will add up to a killer look. What fun new outfits.

Intriguing feedback all around, ladies...thank you for all the great comments!
I actually fell in love with the sheath and only really acquired the bolero because they came together. I'm 100% ok with separating the two and actually foresee getting more use out of the sheath on its own than anything. I'll have to get a picture of it sans jacket, but I've seriously only experienced a sheath fit like that once before in my life.
I may risk wearing the green top with some black boot cut jeans tomorrow when I go up to spend the long weekend Chez Parents...always an interesting experience. Is it flattering enough for that? Maya, I know you don't think so. What gives it a maternity vibe, to you?

I love the purple dress on you!!! The best fit of all! Just skip the matching jacket.
And I think I see what Maya sees in the green top, I'm also not a fan. It just puts your tummy front and centre, and I'm sure this is not what you want.

I love the green top! I think it's crazy flattering.

Although it does amazing things for your bust, and that seems to be a trigger for your mom. So just remember if she mouths off to you about it, you can say to yourself, "Ah. Mom is having a hard time with this top because it makes my breasts look so beautiful. That's her issue, not mine!"

I will say the green top is very fitted over the bosoms. I think Maya's point is r.e. the pleating just at the bottom of the waist-detail. It grabs your waist in a nice, narrow place and then there is pleating from there. I think the waist detail comes down low enough that this wouldn't be mistaken for maternity at all...I would consider the fitted top half, though, before deciding the debut it to the fam...(-:

After reading Maya's comment I took a look at the green top, and I understand what she means. The top has pleating the begins right at its high waistline, and I agree it gives the feel of a maternity top. It just seems to bring attention to the midsection, and because there is so much pleating, it appears to billow out at the stomach. I have this problem with pleats directly below a waistline as well, particularly when it is a higher waistline. Additionally, and I don't know if this bothers you, but I can see the outline of your bra a bit in the green top. Having said that, your boobs do look great in it! And the color is really great on you--I think it's the first time I have seen you in that shade of green before, and it definitely suits you.

I need these rotated to make any judgment calls - sorry! The colors are all just fab on you, but I am especially wanting to see the green top and black top, as both Maya and Angie have stated the concerns I THINK I see.
