3style - yes I know what you mean. And when one has a mental association with a style it can be hard to detach it. My mother, for instance, used to associate the opaque black stockings I favoured as a teenager with those the "convent schoolgirls" of her teen years had to wear, and wasn't too keen on them.

Gigi (sorry, my autocorrect changed your name above to "high") yes it is probably a bit different from my normal style.

RunCarla - over white skinnies is an interesting suggestion. And helpful, as I'm beginning to think that this dress may actually be too short for me to comfortably wear it without something underneath. That'd probably make it more a spring/ autumn than summer look in my climate, especially if I am also adding a colourful scarf.

Smittie and Thistle - thanks

Think it is rather a summer dress. If you love this style you could make this color work when showing some skin on your legs and arms matching it with some cream, white and TURQUOISEor CORAL(last 2 are my fave pairing with this neutral) big chunky accessories, like sandals in these colors, a clutch, a big low pendant, or bangles.

I like it and think it’s cute, even if it’s not the most flattering thing ever. Immediate thought was to brighten it up with pink and I see that idea came to others as well,

Lyn - thanks for the styling ideas

Columbine - thanks for chiming in to agree on the pink. Also I wanted to say that I read something that reminded me of you today, It is from Emily Climbs by L M Montgomery. Talking about the flowers at length, she ends; "And what a name columbine is poetry itself"

I think it’s not terrible, but it’s like a dress you wear when you feel kind of tired and you don’t want anyone to notice you at all. A “fly under the radar” dress. The white scarf is nice next to your face.
