Thank you all for reading through all that!
Cardiff Girl, I don't know if I've ever genuinely regretted getting rid of something. I always feel lighter when things go out the door, even sentimental ones.
Sal, I'm actually thinking about reducing my gear capsule even more. At the old place, I went to the gym most days of the week, but here my exercise tends to come more from urban walking or yoga up on the roof, so I'm just not needing/using the dedicated gym wear.
April, Sisi and JAileen, thank you! You are all very kind.
lisaP, wouldn't that be fun?!
Angie and rachylou, I think it has to do with the specific skirts. I'm wearing the two below, along with another easy jersey faux wrap in black. The ones that are languishing are less casual--one is wool, another is lace--or shorter, or both. At least I'm enjoying that, with higher rises, it's easier to mix and match tops between pants and skirts!
Also Angie, thank you for the kind words. They mean a lot.
Runcarla, you know, I'm sure we've talked about it before, but I'm so interested in the life changes that cause churn. Moving has been huge for me--the last big turnover I had was when we moved from Washington to Colorado--but I know things like weight loss/gain, career changes, retirement, having children, etc. all cause similar strife. I wonder how possible it is to move slow and steadily through those changes. I'm curious, what was it about the 8-month mark for you? Do you know?
Joy, so far, our atypical weather has been hotter, rather than colder. I was glad to have a chance to go back to Colorado over Thanksgiving during a brutal cold snap. That really underscored just much is (and isn't) necessary for those trips. I was definitely glad I'd kept my snow boots!
shevia, I would LOVE to see the inside of your closet!
LeDonna, I like wearing mine (the ones I do wear) with graphic tees too. In fact, I much prefer a tee with a skirt to one with jeans.
nemosmom, I'm glad someone else appreciates the numbers. I find it really valuable to see how my wardrobe is growing and shrinking over time, but I know it can be kind of dense and boring to look at someone else's sea of numbers!
suntiger, my birthday is in August. I associate it with new clothes and back to school shopping, so it just makes sense to me to plan for fall in August and, by extension, for spring in February. Alas, I don't think the weather is to blame for not reaching for the skirts. We've been having lovely temps in the 70s for a month and less-lovely highs in the 80s this week.
