I made a loose commitment to keep myself honest by posting monthly purchases here, and I think it did help keep me mindful in the month of February. Goals for 2024 include reducing return churn and overall purchases, since my wardrobe is in great shape and I am running out of both physical and mental space for all that I have.
February turned out to be a vintage/small maker shopping spree! These types of purchases are in line with my goals and values and don't take up a lot of space (scarves and jewelry, typically). We visited a large vintage market in Montreal where I plan to be a regular as my daughter is at university there and the prices and selection relative to Toronto area were excellent. I bought both high and low: 3 vintage Bakelite bracelets and new junk quality earrings at 3 pairs/$5. The earrings were for my Costa Rica trip and to satisfy the obsession I had with the white plastic "Barbie earrings" last summer. I've never collected Bakelite previously but they had a huge selection that allowed me to choose this stack, and when I got home I realized they were the same palette as this vintage rayon scarf I picked up a while ago (I do need to figure out the secret to ironing old rayon if I am going to keep buying these...). I also ordered the shell earrings on etsy - I fell in love with the maker, MatiQhandmade's pieces a few months ago and when this pair with the tiny green shells came up I went for it.
Finally, a non-fashion photo of my dining room collectibles display. I acquired the Figgjo patterned teapot this month and pulled together several existing things.
