February Challenge reflections

April

If you have soldiered through February with us, you'll recall that Anchie was inspired by kkards' January challenge to shop her own closet, make new combinations, and not repeat outfits.

I figured February being a short month gave me the best chance of completing the challenge and so hopped aboard.

What I have not enjoyed:

Taking photos daily.

What I have enjoyed:

Reimagining my tried-and-true outfit combinations
Figuring out how to change things up while still feeling like me
Learning from Anchie's combos
Being pushed to fix things (polishing boots; removing stains) and, in one case, to fill a wardrobe hole
There was only one day when I disliked my outfit (denim over denim)

Many more enjoyable things than not enjoyable! Thanks, Anchie.

LOL, yes that whole getting dressed, leaving time to take photos posting etc, its harder than it looks
and WOW if you only had 1 day that you disliked your outfit! you totally succussed
its nice to push yourself to reimagine your closet. i found it gave me a new appreciation for what i had and insight to what and how to go forward

I have learned that I need to move from one or two colors in an outfit to three. That opens a score of possibilities for me. The only time I really think of three color outfits are when packing a carry on for a trip. I need to work on this possibility for every day. I continue to add more transitional pieces...especially sleeves. I used to never wear sleeves but now find them helpful. The transitional period is now my major season from long hot summers.
I have not taken as many photos as I have been busier than I thought I would be and seldom have the time. I find that I need to reorganize my closet and edit out old stuff.

I like the idea of being pushed to repair and refresh things rather than ignore them like I do . And yeah , taking good photos is a whole event for me and I’d never manage to do it daily . Most of the time I’m just not that interesting to see

It was interesting to look at. I don’t think I commented much- between you and Anchie there were a lot of outfits! I am keen to do some re-mixing to help in my wears project and have a few ideas for my autumn which is just starting.
I won’t do daily photos though!

That's all positive from my perspective - I also didn't comment much because I was a bit more of a lurker in February than contributor.

I think a little push can help - that's what I have learnt from style challenges. They pushed me to wear the less worn pieces or to try some different shoes with pants etc...

And to repair or iron promptly does help you feel good about your closet.

Taking daily photos is really a drag if you don't have a good set up. It is the main thing I miss about working in the thrift store. But I enjoyed and appreciated your efforts!

A monthly challenge is a lot, no worries about not keeping up/chiming in.

One-day wonders are far easier. This was more "inspiration" than "challenge", but here is an epic one from 2009. Things to know: leggings then were mos def not pants (quite thin and flimsy); YLF did not yet have the ability to post photos directly to the forum.

Fun to remember some of our past members and see who's still here.

Thank you for joining me, I enjoyed looking at your outfits and also got some inspiration. Glad that you found it useful. I admire your wardrobe, you have some really interesting pieces, that is what I think is missing from my wardrobe.
Taking photo was a drag, but it almost became habit, I almost took one this morning and then remembered it is over. I am planning to my share reflections later but I found challenge really helpful.

You have a very interesting and varied wardrobe April, and it was always fun to see and read your posts. Happy it was mostly an enjoyable experience for you.
I hear you on taking outfit photos, I’ve only done it a few times, and I still don’t know how you, Anchie, and Kkards could keep it going for a whole month.

I enjoyed your postings, April, and loved seeing your beautiful outfits and liked reading your descriptions of individual items -- I got a sense of why you bought them (or appreciated having been gifted them) and how your wardrobe works. Plus, cute photo bomber. Plus, your gorgeous hair.

I have trouble getting good photos now, too. It has varied depending where I've lived and my set up. In the current place I have to wrangle so much with the lighting. But I'm working on a more permanent solution to that.

It's always a pain getting started on alterations & repairs, isn't it? But the results so far are motivating me to do the rest!

You've got many more pros than cons there, well done - it's interesting to see what you've all been wearing for 'everyday' occasions (since you've been posting daily), since it gives a better snapshot of who you are. I feel you on the difficulties of consistently taking photos though - I only have one blank wall in my flat, & it's right by the front door. I usually have to kick MrZ's shoes out of the way before I can snap a picture

I've really enjoyed your daily posts and will miss them. Loved seeing Bodie when he graced us with his presence too. It is nice to get a better feel for your personal style which has really shone through on these daily posts.

It was lots of fun following your daily outfits, April, and seeing Bodie more often than not! It sounds like it was a good experience with lots of positives. I too often find I need some kind of external push to fix things, often I ignore them and just wear other things.
