UPDATE - I found most of the original photos which should be a little easier to see. For the ones I couldn't find I put a link to where I first posted it - if you follow those links you should be able to see the original larger photos.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I joined YLF in Feb/March of 2016. Most of my early postings were questions, K/R topics, and other types of discussions, and I also started posting some outfits. In hindsight, most of those early outfits did not quality as favorites in any way, but by summer I was getting the hang of it. I did buy a lot of new items this year, but also found a lot in my closet that worked well too.

Doing this retrospective has been wonderfully enlightening for me. I'm glad there is a tradition of doing this on YLF . Here are my favorites, and I'm so looking forward to 2017!

1 Aug: me lying on the dock in Maine. My outfit is hard to see - old faded black bermudas with rolled hem, faded olive t-shirt with lace shoulder area, old straw hat & black sandals. I would have loved ANY outfit on that day but I did wear this combination a lot last summer. DH TOOK THIS PHOTO AND I DON"T SEEM TO HAVE THE ORIGINAL..See the original here:

2 Jun: Dark neutrals and white: faded black jeans, silver top, white denim jacket, light blue bag, black slip on sneakers. All new pieces except the jeans. One of the new things I tried was adding lighter olores especially in summer, with the light blue purse and white jacket being good examples. I loved both, and wore them a lot.

3 Sep: Tweed jacket (my first top pic item, purchased in April), blush tunic sweater, skinny jeans, all new. I found this jacket before I noticed it was a top pic and it taught me a great lesson about paying attention to top pics! I love it and it’s very versatile.

4 + 5 Oct: Subtle maximalist: Anthro b/w top, Talbots jeans, N&Z Sweater, EF peplum blazer, Via Spiga Monkstrap black loafers, Dooney & Bourke tote in burgundy “signature 1975” pattern. All old except the Anthro top. I love the silhouette, colors, and contrast of this outfit but the sweater kept shifting around and required constant adjusting so I need to find a different interpretation.

6 Oct: a little bling: Adrienne Vittadini aubergine sweater, JNY black leggings, Ellen Tracy Black Suede Booties, 48” faux pearls worn for the first time since I bought them to wear in a wedding many years ago. Only the sweater is new.

(removed) Thanksgiving at SIL's House: Ann Taylor navy embossed slacks & navy tie neck sweater, taupe suede booties, pearls. All new except the pearls. I am loving the navy/ink color as an alternative to the black that fills my closet, and am still working out how to wear it more. DON"T HAVE THE ORIGINAL FOR THIS EITHER. See the original here:

7 + 8 Two Dec Holiday Outfits: Ann Taylor sparkly skirt with black, and Charter Club Black velvet blazer, white lace top, Lucky jeans, heeled pumps. All new this year except the black sweater. Loved both of them!

9 & 10 Dec: Burgundy and blush combo for everyday; raspberry
Lands End puffer, blue wool scarf, blush tunic, grey KUT corduroys, burgundy Naturalized booties. The puffer and scarf I've had for several years, everything else is new. This color combo just feels GOOD to me, and the positive reactions I got here on YLF confirm it.
