Favorite places to shop for bags? Favorite colors?

I have purse lust in a bad way. I have a brown leather Tignanello shoulder bag that I use all the time, and an olive green (smaller) Fossil shoulder bag that I switch to sometimes. Since I got an iPad I have been using the larger bag most often, even when I don't have the iPad with me.

Seeing you all with your cute bags, I'm wishing I had more variety and something to punch it up a little. I marked a few red ones on eBay and almost bought one today at TJMaxx - I don't remember the brand but it was on clearance for $28 and cute. The thing stopping me was it had ivory trim, and I thought that might cut down on versatility. I wish I had thought to snap a photo. I'm not sure I can quite pull the trigger on a red bag, either! It might not be the best choice for my wardrobe. What are your favorite (not neutral) colors for bags? What tends to be the most versatile? I might even go for a pattern (like the dot Aldo one in the store here) but I'm not much of an animal print person.

Anyway - I need a bargain if I'm going to add any bags to my collection (ideally $50 or less). I saw a few at Nordstrom Rack the other day and I've done a lot of looking online. I know there have been good thrifted finds for bags here in the past few days - I am hoping to try that this week.

Any other good places to look for deals on nice bags? Any brands to recommend to narrow down my online searches? (A search of the forums led me to Melie Bianco, and there are some very cute ones - also Miss Gustto had some I liked.) I would also love to see outfit photos that include colorful bags, just to get some inspiration. Thanks!

Not a great deal site, but I was coveting some bags at QVC.com the other night. They have some in gorgeous colors, too. A few B. Makowsky bags were killing me in a raspberry-purple and bright blue (like cobalt, but not quite). Non-navy blue and purple are the bag colors of my daydreams. I also love white bags but they seem like they'd be hard to keep clean.

And don't forget there's always eBay! There's a Makowsky on there that I've got my eye on...

I love my Fossil bags (kissykissyhuggyhuggy); I can find them sometimes at Winners (TJMaxx).

eBay is hit or miss for me; I like to be able to touch/feel my bags

I have had great luck with the clearance table at DSW, if you have one near you. My best score was an amazing B. Makowsky for something like $20!

I too have a Tignanello bag I love, and I've had good success buying other Tig bags on eBay. I scored 3 that way, and was very happy with the quality of the bags I purchased.

Canary yellow, orange and turquoise are the colors that attract me as far as bags are concerned. Happily, one of my eBay scores was a Turquoise Tig satchel and I already own orange and yellow bags, but I could certainly be tempted by an orange patent leather bag (my old orange bag is a mid-sized hobo).

I'm kind of lusting after a bright orange bag - which would be a lovely pop of colour against the navy and grey I wear as neutrals...but I'm wondering how versatile it will be. Hard to justify at the moment.

Red is my absolute favourite bag colour. I have a red leather 'healthy back bag' which I can sling across my back, I've been using it pretty much constantly over the last month as it goes with everything. Angie calls red a neutral, works for me.

I have had good luck with Macy's when they are on sale. They carry the fossil (I have 3) and Tignanello (I have several including a red one I haven't worn recently). Latest bag was a Steve Madden faux crocodile satchel at TJMAX and I am really enjoying it right now. I just cring at paying more than about $100.00 for a purse.

Great suggestions, thanks! I hadn't thought of DSW and might be able to hit a couple different ones this week, if I can get in all the shopping I'm hoping to. Work? Who needs to work when there are bargains to be hunted?

I wear mostly autumn colours so my bags pretty much tone in with that palette - brown, cream, cognac, and multicolour. You can't go wrong by buying a bag in whatever your favourite colour is - blue, red, green, whatever - because you'll find it will be a nice accent for a lot of your outfits. Similarly, a multi-coloured bag (Fossil for example) will be really versatile. I like good quality handbags so I'd rather stalk the sales than buy cheap.

My favorite colors for handbags are olive green, navy, red, and yellow. I was surprised at just how versatile an olive green bag can be. It's practically a neutral. And nothing beats a gorgeous red handbag.

I currently have handbags in black, brown, camel, yellow, purple, a fun herringbone pattern, and a pretty paisley-ish multicolored print. I'm looking for the perfect navy bag, and I plan to add red and olive green before the year is out.

My new favorite place to browse for handbags is TJMaxx. It's where I found my yellow bag ($30). I popped in the other day: they had Fossil bags in red and orange, Dooney and Bourke in a myriad of colors, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Tignanello in navy and red, and the list goes on and on.
