My friends and I are addicted to finding AMAZING emerging designers. You can get pieces that are ultra-stylish and special (not mass produced).

We've been coveting this Chicago jewelry designer and company, Ali Precious Designs (www.aliprecious.com). I don't think the web pictures do her justice- every piece is so intricate and makes any outfit look spectacular! Twice, I have emailed her about my likes and dislikes (favorite colors, my skin tone, etc) and also with a special occasion dress, and have gotten 2 BRILLIANT custom necklaces at no extra costs. I never cease to get stopped with compliments every time I wear them. She is meticulous and said she enjoys getting things Perfect.

Is there a way to upload photos on this? I should share...

I have some more indie favorites if anyone is interested!

I think it's great that you're supporting designers that aren't highly recognized or visible right now. I always find myself walking past the wonderful little boutiques and shops here, simply because I can't afford them. But if I could I would certainly shop exclusively at those places.

Actually, I end up spending so much less this way. Maybe that is because the artist works out of a studio and not a store? I think she sells to stores too but I found her at an art fair type thing.
I emailed the price ranges I needed to stay in and got sent back some different options.

Unless you are talking about a store like H&M or something, any department store charges WAY more and you get WAY less.
