Faux fur vests make me feel like a wooly mammoth.

I want to like them so much. I've tried on lots of them. I spotted this BB Dakota one @ Nordstrom Rack and thought, "this could be it!" because it was an extra small rather than the smalls I have tried on in the past. But nope. I still feel like it is just as unflattering on me as all the rest. I really wanted to like it but at this point I feel like I may just throw in the towel and focus on other type of faux furred pieces. Maybe I'm just not used to all that volume? Anyone else struggling with this?

I haven't found anything I feel good in either in this area. But somehow I think a furry vest would look fantastic on you! What about a more cropped version?

You look adorable in this, nicoleb. IKWYM though, you may FEEL like a wooly mammoth but you don't look like one. They make me look like a wooly icecream cone!

I think someone should make a structured fur vest, with propper seaming and a nipped-in waist. If they can do it for puffy vests, they can do it for furry ones. I guess I have a poisoned eye for anything that is boxy *and* bulky at the same time.

I like it!! As long as you keep the rest of the outfit sleek, I think you could totally make this work.

I know exactly what you mean, I feel like an amercian football player in the ones i have tried LOL. Maybe try a cropped/collarless one, you may feel less bulky. Though you do look fine in that one

I this it looks great on you! Not too wooly at all. I'd love to try one but would feel silly investing in one in FL. I'm on the lookout for a good price on one for winter vacations and the odd cold day here.

I feel the same way Nicole. I love the vests on everyone, I love the idea of them, but haven't found one that I truly love on. The closest I've come is a little girls XL at Target from that new Rocky & CeCe line. Silly, but it fit better than any of the adult sizes I've tried. I didn't purchase though, b/c I still felt it was a bit too bulky for my petite frame. I want one, I just want it to be the right one. I also saw a very pretty cropped one at Macy's but it was like $70 which was a bit too steep for me.

You could try a faux fur scarf or stole instead. You still get the fun fur without the bulk.

Well, you don't *look* like one! I think this looks great, but it definitely requires a little getting used to the feel of it. I like the one I have (from Macys) because it's not fur all the way around -- the fur only goes around the neck and down the front of the vest, so the line is a bit sleeker.

I bet a cropped one would look terrific on you.

Lori - not silly, I love it! This past summer I wanted a denim vest very badly and I ended up turning a little girls denim jacket into one. Cropped and fit me across the shoulders, yay!

Sara - I actually do have a faux fur stole! Thanks for reminding me; I need to wear it!

I like this one on you, volume just needs some getting used to. I think this is also the perfect length, and love how you're wearing it in the picture.

You can try a more cropped length, but again, I think this one is perfect. I also like the collar as it is open.

I think it is because this season's fur vests ARE very "mammothy". In the past, it has been more short-hair fur.

I honestly think it's too big (or maybe too long) for you and overwhelms your body or throws off the proportions or something. It's also a look that frankly, I'm surprised there are any people out there who can make it work. I still think it's cute on you and if you like it, go for it...just don't feel bad about not thinking it's your look, because you wouldn't be in the minority!

Nicole, you really need to try a cropped one. You are definitely a prime candidate for the cuteness factor of a furry vest. Check F21 or even Sears, where they have the Kardashian line. I spotted one there in black that was very cropped and would be adorable on you.

Another vote for you to try a cropped one (first thing that popped into mind), or if you manage to find one with some shaping that will work as well. Personally, I say eschew the idea that it needs to be snap/tie/whatever shut and just buy it in a snugger, smaller size.

Nicole, I think it looks great on you. You have a gorgeous figure and can totally get away with wearing a wooly vest without looking mammoth.

You have slim pants on in this photo which may make you feel top heavy. What about trying it with a bit of a flared jean, This may balance the look more.

First off thanks to everyone who says it looks good, i'm not ignoring your comments and i appreciate your support. I feel like Mochi hit it right on the nose, i feel like this vest overwhelming me. I think it's both the collar and the pockets that jut out a bit.

Una - omg a Kardashian piece lol? I might have to cut the tag out haha...but i am interested, i'll have to see if i can find this in stores.

Aida - thanks, i think i am going to start trying one size smaller like you suggest. I think most jackets/vest etc that i don't plan to close usually end up fitting better when i wear one size smaller anyway. I need to remember this.

I know I have been shopping forever for one. I loved the little girl ones from Target too as they were so cute -- but I could never find one similar in an adult size. (BTW, my 6 year old has the Target one and looks so stinking cute!). I feel like some are way too fluffy and some have huge collars or are too long. I finally found one I liked and at all places, Kohls. The Vera Wang collection vest worked and it was on sale (plus coupons). Flat fur front -- not too big collar.

Ha! I am so glad i am not the only one noticing how C-U-T-E the little girls section of Target has gotten recently! First it was maternity that had better stuff than the women's section and now it's small girls. Not. Fair.

I happen to know the exact vest from the Vera Wang Kohls line you are talking about. I wanted to order it when i was buying some shoes from her collection but 1. it was sold out in everything except for large 2. that line seems to run rather big on me so i wasn't sure i how an extra small would be. Maybe i'll be able to track it down in store and try on.

I've found the solution is to go with a light textured piece. You get the feeling, which is pretty soft and swell, of the faux fur without the bulk. Mine is from BCCG and I think it'll last far longer than any trend (or at least I hope so!)
