Faux fur vests -- out?

I'm doing some closet cleaning and ebay listing today. Ran across some vests from a few years ago that did not get worn at all last winter. With the revival of 70s boho glam right now, what's the consensus on faux fur vests? I haven't seen them in many stylings for F/W so I'm assuming the time is past. At any rate, since I didn't wear them last year, I'm thinking they should go, unless someone has a really compelling reason for me to keep them. Or send them to someone who wants them?

I saw a lot of faux fur vests in the Fall catalogues from Nordstrom's and Lord and Taylor. They seemed a bit longer and maybe flowy but they seem to be in style for the next season.

Thanks, Joyce. Interesting, I didn't even really notice them, which probably means I'm over the look for myself, at least. Hmm. Maybe I'll play with styling the one on the left with bootcuts before I let it go.

I was literally just looking at mine. I have an event coming up that they'll probably work for. I'm keeping mine.

OK, I'll try some fresh styling for the fall season and see how they feel. Yeah, the one on the left has possibilities, I think. It's got that glam thing going on, without being too OTT. Thanks, ladies!

I guess giant fur scarves are the thing this fall. But I'm not sure how you're supposed to only wear it on one shoulder

I don't know! I like various puffer and some furry vests, but struggle with getting enough wears, so have decided they are not that practical. Partly its hard finding the right indoor or outdoor temperature range. I'd like to use them as a versatile toss- on item but then it doesn't mix as well as I thought. Or I like it over a dress, but then same thing, what occasion or weather.

I saw one at a boutique this weekend so they are still around here at least.

I think you should play in your closet a little bit. If you can find some styling that still feels fun, keep at least one for this season; if not, pass them on.

I would keep at least one, I would wear to a casual dinner or outing where I would be outside...I think they work well with your style.

It seems like I see fur vests every season, so they're not out of style as far as I know. But of course, if you're not wearing them, that doesn't matter. Maybe you could give them one more season in your closet and then pass them along if they still don't work for you.

I've been seeing them quite a bit. The one on the left has a very boho-glam feel. Might be fun with bootcut jeans and ankle boots. I say keep that one for sure!

Good grief, you again, I was wondering about my faux fur vest yesterday too. It's in every Sept fashion mag I've read, but I'm not yet sure. It's been so long since I've worn it , I feel like I've lost the confidence necessary . You wear yours, and I'll wear mine

I'm in too. I feel like I can never find that perfect just-so draping, sleek yet edgy fur vest, and my worry is that it's because the ones that look best are real. But we have enough live fur around this house that I will never buy a real one.

I noticed them in the Nordstrom catalog recently and thought, "gee, I should try to wear mine this year." I may remove the ties; I think I'm over them.

Lots of fur vest outfits being pinned to Pinterest at the moment! I think they are kind of timeless. Have a play and maybe keep;)

Well, I had a cropped one for years which I donated, but I think the new ones are longer, drapier and softer. I've seen some belted over flares. I do actually have some faux fur fabric which would be a good candidate and was considering making one sometime.

I would keep the one on the left. And, thanx Anna! I have a a fur collar, from some years ago, not really that giant but good to know they are kind of "in" this season:-).

I don't know! Not a big fan of fur. But I think people in Russia are still into it! Your best bet is ebay probably.

I see them currently and missed their earlier versions. I am a bit tired of them, even in the midst of a major love affair with vests. It does make sense to play with at least one of them and see where you land. Vests are frequently a key third piece for me.

Interesting to see how the colored "bath mat" versions are in the fashion magazine links Anna shared. Thanks, Anna. Quite sure I couldn't pull that off and have it look deliberate.

I kind of love the one on the left. Of course I live in a different climate, but I could see it being the third piece while out running errands on a mild day.

They never actually reached my neck of the woods, which is interesting, as they would work well in my climate. I still see them in catalogues, but I am not sure how they work for your climate or lifestyle.

I think it's up to whether you think you might want to wear it. If you decide you're tired of the look, you can always eBay it with the knowledge that since it is trending, it will sell quickly.

Love the one on the left, I'm on the lookout for something similar (but with more prominent silvery gray). My shorter vest, which has a high collar similar to the one on the right in your photo, I am thinking of passing on though. Mainly because my hair is now long enough that it gets tooooo messy with the high collar.

Ok, clearly I have not been paying enough attention, because tonight I stopped by the mall (needed to visit the Apple Store), and cruising quickly through Lord & Taylor showed me that faux fur vests are very much alive and kicking! Yeah, they're a little different from what I have, but I don't mind that. I'll try playing with vest and flare jean pairings.

Check out the September edition of 'In Style' and 'Elle' - very much in evidence. Also, 'Style Watch' picks BoHo as the top trend for F/W and (faux) fur vests very much represented. With denim, and a plaid shirt!
