Faux fur vest - will one of these work?

I need an experienced eye to give me feedback on this look. I am trying two different faux-fur vests and I'm not sure if either of them work.

#1-3: Santuary faux-fur vest. Normally I wouldn't go for this color, but the cropped length works better than most faux-fur vests I've tried, and there's a red undertone in the fur as well as the lining.
(Also seen with an animal print chiffon midi dress that I also took home.)
I apologize that the cell phone pics are so horrible - I haven't had a chance to take photos from home yet.

#4-6: Patched faux-fur vest from ASOS.. I like the color and the feel of this vest, as well as the V-neck; however, I feel like the longer length isn't very flattering. I don't think I could wear this with dresses the way I can with the first vest.

My thought is that I should keep the first vest and return the second - is that the right decision? Please let me know what you think - and I'll try to get better pictures of the first one later.

I wish I could marry the two together. I like the shape of the first, but the mottled look of the second.

I am not convinced, but I prefer the first to the second for the reasons you say.

I should also add that I've been trying on a LOT of faux-fur vests and that I really haven't found any others that I liked - the others all had very high collars, or hit RIGHT at the widest point of my hip, which was not flattering at all, or were simply a very bad color on me. So... I'm kind of feeling like this is my last attempt to find something really fab before I get too frustrated with the look.

I think this is a very tricky look as a larger, busty woman. *sigh* I guess I need to play with it a little more.

I prefer the first. I think the V on the second one is too deep and the fur doesn't set your face aglow like the first one does.

I quite like the first vest on you, color and all I hear you about the difficulty of finding a faux fur vest that looks good over a larger bust...I've tried a bunch on too, but haven't even found one that I'm willing to show

I really like the first one, Kari! The colours are great on you. But head over to Express and try the one I tweeted about yesterday too. It doesn't have the centre front placket and looks crisper.

I agree with your thought -- the first one is better. It is a little more cropped so easier to wear. I have a vest that is long-ish like the second one and I struggled to style it.

That's the one! You have short hair so I think that the shawl collar is worth a try.

Kari: Love your posts. Just love them. Well, I prefer the first vest to the second, and think the Express option has good potential, too. But I'm dying to see some better photos of the dress. I tried that dress myself, and it did nothing for me...but it looks like it was designed for you. Can't wait to see how you "Kari-ize" it.

Love the dress and booties in 1-3. I'm still not sold on the fur vest thing, but I agree with Dresslover that I like the shape of 1st and color way of 2nd.

Okay, I'm back with better pictures of the vest (and one of the dress.) But I apologize that my hair looks like such a mess - I'm overdue for a trim!

In better light, does this change anyone's impression?

For myself, I'm really thinking that this vest is the best option I've found, and I rather like the exposed pleather placket in that pretty cognac color. In better light, I like the color better than in the harsh light in the dressing room, and the cropped length is more flattering than any others I've tried on. I haven't tried the Express vest yet that Angie pointed out, and I'll try to get over there. Unfortunately Piperlime hasn't been very successful for me in terms of online shopping; for some reason, half of their pages and pictures don't load regardless of what computer I'm using, so I don't really bother searching their site any longer.

I did try the Gabriella Rocha vest that Kappy mentioned, but the color was a very pale, washed-out shade, and the faux-fur was really kind of yucky looking in person.
