I'm looking for a faux fur jacket to wear with an evening dress, and facing a dilemma: when does faux fur cross the line into "fleece" or "sherpa" territory? I want something that looks dressy, but online it's hard to tell whether the jacket will look formal enough or will just look like a glorified sweatshirt.

Any way to tell??? I notice that when the "hairs" are longer and shinier, they look more dressed up, but not always...
