I finally got a chance to try on the coat. The faux fur is really nice & soft, colors are fun, and it fit.
But, it only has one closure. Which if I read more carefully, I would I have realized. But I assumed it was more a description of the closure type than actually a singular (awkward grammar)
So back it goes
It’s SUCH a great coat! Could you have a tailor add more closures? The reason I ask is that I just got a faux fur jacket which I adore, but the closures are hard to work and one of them won’t stay closed. I’m going to take it to a tailor and ask if they could change out the closures for something better.
Too bad, Anna. It’s a great looking coat. I like Windchime’s suggestion. I’ve often taken my coats to my tailor to tinker with fastenings—in one case to add them to a garment that had none. And yes, it was a winter coat, and I bought it knowing it had none. Sometimes the heart overrules the head!
Aaaargh fart. That’s so frustrating. But yes, if you’re game, I’d explore adding extra hook and eye closures. That should be an inexpensive alteration. You can also look for special hardware at bead/button shops or Etsy if you want to change them all out.
I returned a beautiful plaid wool coat last week. It had only one button closure. I returned it for another reason (too scratchy), but I thought one button was inadequate for a long coat. I wondered what they were thinking.
You may be more patient/less lazy than I, Anna, but the need to fasten a row of hooks and eyes would make me avoid wearing the coat. My vote is to see if they can do buttons or a zipper.
If buttons, you could do something unique. All kinds of cool buttons on Etsy.
