Faulty item - return or exchange?

I bought this casual jacket from Aritzia a couple of weeks ago. I like it and it would fill a hole in my wardrobe, I’ve been looking for something that might work better for me than a sweatshirt. The jacket fits very well into my wardrobe and I would wear as jacket and also as liner under coat for warmth. So, I’m happy with it and have a lot of outfits in mind. It looks better IRL in my opinion.
As I was trying it today, I found that one of the snaps came of.
I don’t have much experience with Aritzia clothes. I have a couple of accessories from them but that’s all. Is this a random issue or it might be a quality concern. Should I exchange it for another one or return it?

Do you have any suggestions? What should I do?

No experience with Artizia - but otherwise I'd exchange it. Similar issue with Karl Langerfeld jacket resulted in return for me - could not trust it again.

My concern w/ exchange would be if they were to send out another of a batch from the same manufacturer. I don’t know how likely that would be though. Hopefully Angie & Lisa P will see this thread; they might have an idea of how that works.
I have no experience w/ the brand but do see a lot of really positive comments about it, so it might just be a fluke!

No experience with Aritzia either. The jacket's cute. Would it make sense to exchange and then return if the issue repeats?

I’d just take it back and request another one . Things happen once in awhile - *shrugs* . Obviously if it happens yet again then it’s a problem but one thing like this doesn’t indicate quality - in my opinion anyways . It’s more the response of the store that matters .

CarolS, I thought of returning and re-buying, it might not be available for exchange in the stores. My concern is if a snap will come of again later, I might be outside of a return period.

I'd exchange, or just do the repair at home- sounds like an easy fix!

Suntiger, unfortunately it’s not fixable. One part of a snap detached from the fabric.

Lisa P, I’m going to follow your advice and reorder. I decided not to exchange in a store but place a new order so my return window for the new jacket will be from today.

I think every time a new transaction is processed , the return window applies to the newest receipt of product .

Very annoying to have this happen to a new item! I would return and exchange. Hopefully it's a one-off, not an issue with the overall quality of the garment.

SF, you need a snap machine to put snaps back on. They are not sewn on, IYKWIM.

Angie, the first is absolutely overkill, but I was hoping it might be like the second, or at very least that she or her alterations shop could repair/replace with something like the third

SF, no it’s not replaceable unless I want to replace all snaps and I don’t want that.

Good call. That kind of snap is virtually impossible to repair/replace, so an exchange is called for. Sometimes they can just fail, usually because the set wasn't quite perfect for some reason. It's not often a delayed failure, unless the snap was put under unusual pressure.

It's a cute jacket! I hope the exchange is processed quickly and there are no more issues.

I would have exchanged also. It's hard to find nice items like that. Hopefully this was just an isolated defect.

Great jacket. Glad you decided to return/reorder. Like Lisa said, it's just one of those things that sometimes happens. I used to buy fairly frequently from Aritizia online, and customer service was always very responsive to any problems.
