Where is your tummy fat?
Some people have undefined waists - apple shapes. Some people have defined waist but bulge below the waistline. It makes a difference, I think.
My tricks and tips:
1) Pick jeans and pants that hit you at the thickest part of your waist - to "lock and load." A wider waist band also works miracle. If troublezone is above, at, and below the waist then go for pants that hit higher rise - just below the belly button. If troublezone is below the waist, then go for lower-rise to hit that widest part.
2) Always fit for the widest part of your body - and tailor if you must. Don't squeeze into too-tight pants - they create muffin top - even on thin women! Ignore the size on the label - fit is more important than any number.
3) Wear a cami with stretch for smoothing over any bulges, if the troublezone is more at waist than below. If the trouble zone is below waist, look into spanx or other "gut sucker" panties.
4) Wear tops and blouses untucked and loose, then define a waist with a belt, a cardi buttoned at smallest part of waist, a cropped cardi, or a jacket. Layering is the best disguise. As is patterned blouses.
5) Focus on jewelry - a fabulous necklace or great pair of earrings will draw the eye up to your face and nobody will notice the belly.
6) Skip the pants and go for structured dresses that skim your figure. Structured clothing can be your friend. If you've got great legs (as most apples do), have the dress hit at the knee and show off your legs. With dresses, wear a full slip or negligee - so that it skims over everything and you have no elastic creating sausage casing bulges anywhere.
7) Skirts can also be your friend too - just steer clear of pleats if your trouble zone is below the waist!
