I thought - maybe this is just my own personal take - I thought what Smittie was talking about was that retailers are pouncing on the classic "capsule of quality" and bringing it around to marry fast fashion.
So that instead of having a pared-down, capsule wardrobe full of long-lasting quality items that you might have for years, there is this shift in "Here is your capsule wardrobe!" and then four weeks later (well, probably more like two weeks for a retailer like Zara), they've got the next capsule wardrobe out for purchase.
So that this pleasant idea of a quality capsule wardrobe is now subverted into a selling cheaper fast-fashion clothing as a set, in bulk numbers, instead of the idea of adding one or two trendy pieces to your classic wardrobe.
I think? Smittie! Can you elaborate?
