Fashionably late to the YLF Ball! 2

My dress for the YLF Ball doesn't technically exist yet, lol - I'd love to wear a yellow version of the fitted, boatneck, Oscar de la Renta gown that Emma Watson wore in 2014. So [photo #1]'s style but in [photo #2]'s colour, if that makes sense?

If I'm feeling bold, I'd like to group the yellow with contrasting, colourful accessories in cobalt blue & deep pink, with turquoise & stark white/ silver as the bridging neutral.

If I'm feeling a little less out there (but still can't give colour up completely, lol), I'd pair the dress with orange & deep pink instead. Maybe more suitable for an evening affair, anyway?

What do you think? Does that give you all a better idea of what I'd wear if I had no constraints? (Of course, my fairy godmother would make me able to walk in heels, and to give my short natural curls that 'perfectly coiffed without being crunchy', 1950s romantic look that I'm currently still trying (but failing) to emulate, haha!)

Also, is 'boatneck' the correct term for the neckline in photo #1? Or is it a jewel/ slash neckline? Thanks!

Lovely dresses! Perfect accessories, this will be so beautiful no matter which you choose. Yellow dress with 6-9 would be my favorite. Fun!

To my mind, the yellow and blue is a more conventional pairing than the pink and orange, so I like the latter group of pictures. Hope you’re enjoying your “new” hair!

I think "boatneck" gives a good description of the neckline on Emma's dress. Or, maybe "batteau". It's a pretty dress and would be stunning in a range of bright colors.

@FashIntern really? Yellow & blue is more conventional? I thought pink & orange would be more conventional with yellow since they're closer on the colour wheel (& traditionally more 'warm' colours, though I wouldn't wear them too warm toned here). I guess it's all relative, lol!

@Emily K I guess bateau would just be the French way of saying it, lol! Yes, I like the way it's a very classic, fitted style but slightly updated with the neckline & sleeve length. The train might be tricky though - guess my fairy godmother will have to order some Disney animals to pick up the hem for me as I walk, lol!

Maybe I just think of it as conventional because it was my school colors. Then again, I can think of lots of professional sports teams that have those colors as well. Either way, you’d look stunning.
