Fashionable Fitbit? Possible?

So, I really wanted a FitBit Force and was about to pullthe trigger when someone mentioned to me that they can cause a rash that looks similar to a chemical burn on the wearer. Even in people with no prior allergies.

I have a lot of allergies, and in researching the alternatives, found the FitBit One (No idea how it stays hidden attached to a bra . . .) and the Jawbone UP24.

The Jawbone is NOT pretty.

I had contemplated putting it around my ankle to save my fashion sense. Not sure it would work. And, the Jawbone does not have cool bands like the Fitbit.

Wondering if other fabbers have a creative idea for this. The pedometer attached to my waistband is pretty awful, and shows throough, so just about anything will be an improvement

You can attach the Fitbit One to the center of your bra. This can be a very happy solution if the design aesthetic of the bracelets doesn't work for you.

I have the Fitbit One. So does Mo. Tory Burch is actually coming out with Fitbit jewellery soon! So you can wear it as a true accessory. I am not too sure if it will work on the One or not.

Anyway...the One is pretty small. Because I often wear jeans or trousers, I just pop it in my pocket! Works fine like that. If I don't have a pocket and I'm wearing a knit top, faux tucked, or else a jacket, I clip it to the side of my hip -- it doesn't really show.

I also wear it clipped to my bra sometimes. It's pretty simple (for small busted me, at least). You just...well, attach it to the middle of the bra (where the plunge is) by clipping it and it stays there. It may be marginally less accurate in that spot, but it seems to work pretty well. And on me, it is not noticeable. I think for someone with larger breasts it would be less noticeable, if anything, because the fabric of a top would "tent" out in that place more than it does on flat-cheted moi.

Hmmm, maybe the fitbit one would work well then! I usually wear knit tops, so that was my concern.

I think this requires a trek to Best Buy to see how big they are in person.

I have the One and I'm wearing it in every single WIW pic you guys have ever seen. Every. Single. One. (had a Fitbit for 4 years now and been here just about 3 1/2) And I don't wear it on my bra except for maybe 2% of the time. How's that for small enough to wear fashionably?

I have the Fitbit Flex that I wear on my wrist. I have plenty of allergies, but nothing from the flex. I'm not particularly crazy about having the black bracelet-looking thing on my arm all the time, but I'm hoping that Kate Spade will up the style quotient for me. I also got an email the other day that the flex now comes in radiant orchid!

Oh, and for flex users - I saw on a Facebook group I moderate that a lady 'blinged' hers up quite nicely using little stick on strips of rhinestone type things. made it look much more like jewelry. Or you could wait for Tory Burch to do her thing
And the rash seems to be just a Force issue, not the Flex. never worn either model, so I don't know the difference in design.

The Force has a lovely display that you can see everything on with it. The Flex doesn't. And yes, the rash is just a Force issue. Something in the new design apparantly reacts horrifically on some people. I just know I would be one of them!

I like to know where I stand, so to speak, to keep me motivated, which is why I wanted the Force.

I also really like the future style options with the Fitbit versus the UP.

It is just a very expensive pedometer, so I want to get it right the first time. Using part of my year end bonus fun money for it

I've got the Fitbit Force, and so far haven't had any reaction in spite of having fairly sensitive skin. It's not beautiful on my wrist, but I don't find it terribly objectionable, either.

Yes the force has some current issues with skin rash so if you have sensitive skin you are probably wise to stay clear of it. I also have the Fitbit one and clip it to my bra. It might be a good solution.

The One shows all your stats when you depress the button. Cycle through it and you get your miles, steps, calorie burn, clock, flights climbed, the 'flower' that grows as you move, any alarms you have set. You can turn off some of these if you don't want them all on there to cycle through.

I really like the One as my fancy pedometer. I can read the display easily and it also syncs automatically with your phone, etc. As Mo says, you can see how many steps you've done, how far you've walked, how many flights of stairs, etc. just by pushing the button. It is somewhat motivating. If I'm close to my goal I will do a little running on the spot to get there! And I have worked out how much walking I need to do "extra" in my sedentary day to make my 10,000 steps. I can decide whether or not to shoot for that goal on a daily basis, or whether to shoot for a weekly goal instead, or I can adjust the goal -- it's pretty cool.

There are some things that are a bit annoying about it if you are a stickler for absolutes -- for instance some people get frustrated because it doesn't really account all that well for non step based exercise -- and it thinks that taking steps (however minimal) is somehow "more" active than weightlifting (um, no) but....well...it's a pedometer. So that's what it does best. What I like is that it is a small and unobtrusive pedometer, it is accurate, it also counts stairs, and it allows me to log my other activities as well, which gives me a good sense, over time, of how active I have been.

I have the Fitbit Zip and it's smaller than the One, but just as effective. It lives in the middle of my bra, and I've only had one or two times in 6 months that I've even noticed it under my clothing. I'm small busted so if you aren't you'll probably never see it under your clothing.

I can take it out and tap it's screen to see all of my stats. It syncs with my computer (but not my very old smartphone or my Samsung tablet) and emails me a weekly stats thing. I don't bother with that side of it, I just like to look at it during the day and set my daily goals. As Suz said though it doesn't "see" other activity, or if I'm doing a class at the gym it doesn't see my pushups, etc. I just count one 30 minute high intensity class as about 5000 steps. Seems about right for me. The one does not have any of the sleep features, nor does it count stairs. Still, an excellent pedometer for about 50 bucks.

which is really slick and minimal looking. There are a few ways to wear it - a wristband, a necklace, a clip. I have no idea how good the interface is - either on the device itself or on the app you use on your smartphone to interact with it.

I have no advice to give (although my husband does have a Fitbit and likes it, and I sometimes wonder if I should get one too), but just want to say I can relate to this issue! My office had a step challenge a few months ago and I decided not to do it entirely because the pedometer you needed to use was big and bulky and would only work if it was clipped to your waist. Tracking my steps wouldn't have been so bad, but two months of coming up with clothes with separate waistbands with my dress-heavy wardrobe would've just been painful.

And it's good to know the Fitbit can clip to a bra easily.

What is it that causes the rashes? I'm just curious because I have wanted one for a while and I think maybe DH got one for my upcoming birthday.

Raisin - they don't know why. It doesn't happen in all people, just some. And the rashes look more like burns to me from the pictures I have seen.

They are supposedly working on it, but I have seen nothing.

It is only the Force that seems to cause them. I thought it was one or two people until I did some looking.

I also have nickel allergies but have had no reactions to the Fitbit force despite daily wear. So excited that designers are already thinking about jewelry for the Fitbit!

I LOVE my Fitbit one. I use it in my pockets or my waistband. I have only used it clipped to the inside of my bra once. It was fine but I prefer on my waistband somewhere...but you need to be very careful if you go to the bathroom if it is your band not in a pocket. : )

The truth behind my not wanting to wear it on my bra is because I had breast cancer, diagnosed almost 3 years ago. I had a ton of radiation ( tests, treatments ), so I don't want any amount of radiation near my breasts or sternum...no matter how small or insignificant. This is just a personal opinion for myself. There is absolutely no indication/proof that the non-ionic radiation is harmful and I use a cell phone, but I just don't like it for me ( my cancer also has a 98% return rate - so maybe I am too careful ).

Oh dear, Isabel. Just one more thing to add to my worry list. I do sometimes wonder what we are doing to ourselves with all our electronics.

Having said that...Thistle, I clip my Fitbit Zip to the middle of my bra. The Zip comes with a rubber case with a clip to enclose and allow you to clip it somewhere. You can even clip to the inside of a pocket. It's tiny, really. I wear a 32DDD bra and it is not visible.

I have been wearing the flex since Christmas. I am not crazy for the black rubber bracelet, but i do like this little gadget. I run on the spot too, when I am getting close to my steps. Nice little pedometer.

I have the One and I just clip it to my jeans pocket, my waistband, or if I'm wearing a dress, to my bra. I find it very convenient and unobtrusive.

My DD bought me a Fitbit Flex for Mothers Day. I have sensitive skin, but not yet any allergic reaction to this rubber bracelet. I must say it's not fashionable, but what the hay. I just wear it on the same arm as my watch, which hopefully will give me a more accurate step count, as my left arm is not my dominant one.

I had the Fitbit One and liked the graphics, but it came unclipped from my waistband several times and I worried about losing it. Changed to a very light and comfortable Jawbone 24Up and never looked back -- love the interface and sleep information. Lots of friends and co-workers wear activity bracelets and we're all different in what we select.

I have a Fitbit Zip that I wear in my bra. It's tiny and interfaces to my phone so I can see my stats without sticking my hand in my shirt to take out the Zip. You can see some of the stats on the Zip, like steps, calories, and a clock, but the phone interface is better. Plus, you can add non-step exercise like biking or swimming and it will add it to your daily calorie count. It was an eye-opener at first about how sedentary my weekdays truly are since I work in an office, mostly on a computer.
