I would like to get some hair accessories. Bought a back up hair clamp because my old one is getting squeaky. I wonder if the stores are noticing an increase in sales for hair pins and ties? Kind of along the lines of hair color?

We ordered some dress shirts for Mr. M, some Mephisto sneakers--great price, and some spring dress shorts. Too much for me--I ordered the white jeans and a couple of tops. And a pair of sandals from Zappos that will take nearly 2 weeks to get here instead of the 1-2 days.

I haven't used a bag in 5 weeks. I only take walks. Only shopping online. I find that weird.

If I went to CVS I'd probably buy some socks too.

Haha!! I am trying to observe my impulses towards shopping and stuff.

I did a happy dance on Friday when I got a bakery delivery of bread and almond croissants. I put most in the freezer but savoured the almond croissant with coffee and appreciated every mouthful. Which is how it should be - rather than grabbing something on the run......

Definitely going through withdrawal. I've been ordering things online for spring/summer but I'm having a very hard time with how casual my life is now and how it's affecting my wardrobe choices and what I buy. I admire Angie's ability to dress up just to hang around the house but that's not me. I HAVE ordered a couple linen blend jackets.....and yes, I WILL wear one with jeans or shorts to walk the dog. I've also ordered linen blend pants that's I'll wear with tees.

Rachy, I REALLY miss working with my clients and browsing the stores. Until Friday, I hadn't missed wardrobe shopping one bit for 8 weeks. Then I missed it and put an order in with Nordies to do my bit for the economy. All on sale. And I am not a sale shopper. I'm seeing fun stuff at BR and Boden too.

I hear you! I think I have spent several hundred on flowers and dirt...with no end in sight and daily trips to Lowe’s, Walmart and nurseries....we have been planting for a week. Buying random stuff at Walmart...seriously, bras on sale , tanks , a zip up hoodie, just because Angie posted about hoodies...it goes on and on...I’m completely losing it!

YES! Nodding along with Sal! The local bakery opened for one day last week, and had fresh muffins, scones, and sourdough (My gosh, I miss great SF sourdough...) and I put some in the freezer, but the fresh scone tasted like heaven!

I don't dare walk into a drugstore, Target, Walmart, or the like. I would come out with a singing wall bass or something....

I am seriously thrift store deprived and cannot imagine when they will reopen or how they will deal with the overload from bored closet cleaners. Meanwhile my actual closet gets smaller as I am apparently becoming more and more fussy in confinement .

I have been overwhelmed by the number of sale emails popping into my inbox. Very sad situation. I bought most of my seasonal update prior to covid, so no need for me to buy anything at the moment. But I have been sitting on my hands, because the specials that are available are very good value. I would prefer to wait until my local specialty store reopen and help them along. I really hope they reopen.

I’m there with you shevia. I’ve window shopped the thrift stores in town, but of course they are closed. I’m going to place a book order with our local independent this week. Praying that the nurseries and garden centres will be open when it’s warm enough to plant out of doors.

I experienced just a little bit of a shopping itch too, but channeled it to practical items. I placed an order for my favorite underwear, and a couple of no-underwire bras to try. Big sale discounts so I threw in another two hoodies and a pair of pajama pants.

I also decided to try the Naturalizers Makayla sneakers in rose gold, as a possible replacement for my old rose gold sneakers that I actually attempted to re-dye last year as they were getting pretty dull looking. They’ve been worn a lot and are looking worse for the wear. I had bought the snake print version of those sneakers back in February and was evaluating them against the much pricier but cuter Vince slip on sneakers. Somehow during this quarantine time, I’ve not been able to really evaluate the Vince shoes very well — one time I’ll put them on and they feel pinchy, and another time they seem fine. The Naturalizers seem comfy no matter what. I guess that gives me my answer, in this time when practicality rules.

This is all presuming we will be wearing real shoes at all much this summer. Considering I’m pretty much living in gear and t-shirts...

I am buying, but trying to keep it practical. So I've ordered some shoes from Zappos to try for stay-at-home sneakers (I'd like two more pair to rotate, as the cushioning in my current ones is a bit worse for the wear) and walking sneakers (I only have one pair currently, and I like to alternate days). I am feeling an urge to shop online more (my normal mode of shopping anyway), and I have plenty of time to do so. I'm trying to keep a handle on it . . .

Food orders are the best. My grocery pickup day is the highlight of the week for the entire household! My teens go along with me just to get out of the house, even though none of us ever leaves the car. Wal-Mart grocery pickup may be the wave of the future for me!

OMG, Nemo -- a singing wall bass. My parents used to have one of those!! I mean, it was a gag gift, but they loved it so much they kept it and hauled it out for a laugh every now and then. It sang "Don't worry; be happy!"

Well, I have broken down and started shopping again.

It started with a need. I need a kettle bell for my workouts. It won't come for another month (and I ordered it a month ago) but that's better than never.

Then, I needed garden books. So I ordered some. (They are SLOWLY) trickling in.

Then it was a shoe rack .(Still not here).

Then, some organizing containers (ditto).

I also got shampoo and a small flat iron, which amazingly appeared on my doorstep pretty quickly.

AND -- 3 fashion purchases. All sandals, all on sale. The Sorels, and 2 pair of Fitflops, which haven't arrived yet, also on sale. The Fitflops double as indoor shoes in summer (one pair for outside, one for inside).

I ordered some books last week; I also found the grey version of the NB sneakers I mentioned on my thread at NRack and ordered them this weekend.

I haven’t felt much like buying but I definitely miss browsing in person.

Shevia, around us a couple weeks ago we had a problem of people dumping donations outside the closed thrift stores. *headdesk* I guess being stuck at home makes people clean out closets etc.

Oh, my buying (other than groceries and supplies) has mainly been jigsaw puzzles and books!

1) I put this new 500 piece "succulents" puzzle together in about three hours -- my husband thinks I'm some kind of genius, but it's not a hard puzzle.

2) My next one, "houseplants" -- 1000 pieces for more of a challenge!

3) A vintage circular one of birds I kept from my mom's house. It's probably as old as I am. I love the old puzzles with their thick pieces and unusual shapes!

4) One of Salvation Mountain in California, given to me by Leonard Knight, the artist who built the site, before he passed away.

My browsing has mostly been dedicated to finding a Mother's Day gift for my mom and a birthday gift for my brother. Leaning towards some cookbooks and yummy treats since we're all stuck at home and can't go out for dinner or brunch the way we usually would. After that comes DH's birthday and I'm researching steak knives and martini glasses. Again, trying to upgrade the home dinner experience.

I have ordered some fun learning aids for DS: a book of math puzzles, a catapult kit, and tangrams. How did we not have tangrams?! Sitting on my hands not to buy him all the books, maps, puzzles and art supplies in the world. We already have a good stockpile of those.

Not being able to drop stuff off at the thrift store donation center has thrown a wrench in my spring cleaning. I had a few bags in the trunk when the stay-at-home order went into effect, and they're still in there. Serves me right for putting it off!

Speaking of thrift stores and having stuff to donate ......I have been carrying around in my car a big bag full of clothes and shoes that were originally headed for the donation bin. I haven't been able to bring myself to throw the bag in the dumpster - and now that the reality of what is happening to so much of what we buy is hitting home, I'm sick about it. Of course I am aware of the very real degree of environmental damage caused by the fashion industry, but I've been able to assuage my guilt by giving away the pieces that I didn't want anymore. This bag in the back of my vehicle taunts me everyday - and man do I feel awful about it. Hanging on to it until stores reopen isn't even the answer - as Jaime said, so much stuff will end up at the thrift shops that staff won't be able to deal with. UGH .
