Do the fashion weeks interest you? Do you have a favourite (the big four - Paris, Milan, London, New York or another?) or a favourite designer? Do you watch the shows? Page through stills? How does runway influence your fashion or sense of style?

Well I love our local one, NZ Fashion Week. They have an offering for the public too, NZ Fashion Weekend, which is popular. Sadly they had to cancel this year’s Week due to our Covid delta outbreak. I had tickets for some Weekend shows, they hope to maybe try again later so I haven’t tried to get my money back yet.

I used to follow the daily updates , even subscribing to the special Fashion Week “ newspaper “ ( digital , but not social media yet ) out of NY . Now ? Meh . I look at the odd street style compilation from social media people I follow but with about 80% less interest than I used to have . There is no sense of urgency anymore for me - now that I’ve left the business ( as removed as it was at the end ) .

I usually just check tomandlorenzo.com and YLF of course, then look for more pictures in general. Not sure runway influence my sense of fashion anymore - it's more art show for me.

I used to look but don’t anymore. I find them a muddle now and disconnected from what the designer will actually be selling. They seem to be pure entertainment to me. Sometimes I will recognise something from a show in a magazine layout but I find it pretty hard.

I don't and never have. Just browse the current offerings on netaporter, farfetch and matches plus selfridges/Harrods/Harvey Nichols.

I did buy British Vogue today to flip through. Might buy it next month too when I'm riding the shinkansen(bullet train) down to Tokyo for my birthday.

I like seeing the street style photos, and looking at photos from the designers I like. And sometimes I’ll discover a designer whose work I haven’t seen much of before. The Vogue website is great for this (I just try to avoid all the celebrity stories).

But because of the timing of the shows so far in advance (the Spring/Summer 2022 shows are happening now), I sometimes don’t feel in the mood to look at a future season when the current one has just begun (I.e don’t tempt me yet!)

No particular city is my favorite. Some of the designers I like are Erdem, Gabriella Hearst (and Chloe now that she’s doing it), Loewe, Bottega Veneta, Etro, Rick Owens, Armani. A lot!

I’m a visual person, and I think that as far as fashion goes, the more visual input the better. I don’t try to tease out trends or consciously process anything - it’s all stimulating and fun. The more I see (not just “designer” fashion - anything) I think it all works itself out in the brain and enriches me.

I do page through the runway stills of the RTW collections of my favourite designers from time to time. Or if I see an outfit I particularly admire from a designer who is not on my hit list I might then go through the runway stills of that designer.

I do get ideas from them. I will save screen shots of the ones I’m most taken with to use as inspiration.

Sometimes I look at the pictures, but just think of them as art rather than inspiration. They're just not relatable to me at all. I feel the same about a lot of bloggers too- just posing for the pics but not real life.

Berlin has a fashion week. I haven’t figured out how to make use of it. A couple years ago there were small events in shops around town. They might be a way for me to explore more of what Berlin offers, because besides whatever the event is, I could get to know the store too.

I definitely check out the stills in Vogue.com for designers that catch my interest. But I don't want to see "a show", a presentation. Don't want to be distracted by the music so I will mute that if I see a video recap. I also don't want to see the street style folks who hover around the shows. I don't ever check out red carpet photos, either. No interest in dresses for standing around. One thing I do like about the videos is you can see the clothes as the models move. I did like the link that's coming up in next LinkLove that compares how various designers use the same or similar pantone colors.

ETA: I've been liking FashionGoneRogue for a selection of print ad campaigns. I don't subscribe to fashion magazines any more and have missed this kind of thing.

I use to GO to NYFW regularly with hubs Greg. Then I watched the shows regularly online. Now I do so sporadically because it's part of my job - (that's still where most trends are born) - but I do not enjoy it that much anymore. I'm annoyed at the lack of diversity of the models, and how badly many of the designers behave. That said, I have to keep my finger on the pulse and look at what the big designers and my favourute designers are doing. So I do check in seasonally. My own style is not inspired by this process though.

I will flip through slideshows occasionally and follow Tom and Lorenzo for the hot takes, and I enjoy the street style photos. I don’t seek out the coverage but will check it out when I have idle time. I find it more entertaining as art in general than applicable to my style. I always wait to see what filters down to wearable looks that are available at retail. More and more, I am interested in what’s relevant to me and my life and body, not fantasy.

I used to rely on my DSIL ( RIP) who predicted trends way before they became trends... like blush with black and gaucho pants. She would pick out things me in thrift shops that were ahead of their time. I don’t know how she did it. Now I look for trends in Fashion Weeks. Especially in NYC and Paris and Milan. Now street style has become more of an inspiration, more real life fashion trends.
