Interesting article, I have to admit I did breathe a sigh of relief when I looked at the last photos.

Very interesting - I guess the audience and intention of your dressing is important I do like the lampshade skirt though in the first picture, but I don't think I'd ever wear it!

Fashion is such a unique art form. Both art and practical. I have to say I find much of the street fashion ridiculous. Ten come the lovely French ladies showing us what street fashion can be!

I read this article and fashion seems to be living art, some like it more flamboyant, some like it more subdued and elegant. It's never really wrong... Just a matter of personal preference and taste. For us that financially don't want to support the former, I am glad for the french understated taste that is still considered an art form.

the article uses flamboyance of street stylers/ bloggers cum fashion critics as a set up for a less than original argument pitting "fashion editors" with the "bloggers/style critics).

while i agree that "gifts" of thousands of dollars of merch reeks of conflict of interest, not sure being restrained in one's dress makes for a better critic/arbiter/curator of style and fashion.

I remember reading years ago that classic dressers will always think flamboyant dressing is OTT & will feel ridiculous in those clothes & flamboyant dressers will feel bored in classic clothes (paraphrasing here). The interesting part for me was I physically took a breath when I saw the last photos, which was unexpected to say the least.

bj1111 - I agree being open to many people (& therefore their different styles) would seem to be a major requirement for any "critic/arbiter/curator of style and fashion.'

Well I think of the fancy dressers as just that - people dressed up for a costume party of sorts. On the other hand, for me the big leopard coat in the last picture would be a bit too much to actually wear, although it looks great on her.

Very interesting read but perhaps a bit biased. But then, what article is not to some extent a reflection of the author's opinion which is shaped by personal experience.

I did like the last outfits so I guess that shows which side of the fence I am on.
