I have had to eliminate high heels from my wardrobe due to my radical changes in geography & lifestyle. I have decided that I shall make fashion sneakers my new stilettos LOL I don't have any that have laces, only slip-ons.
I have velvet slip-ons, hair-calf slip-ons, hair-calf hybrid hi-top sneaker booties, glittery slip-ons with faux leather pompoms, and faux snakeskin silver slip-ons. I tend to wear them for all but the more formal occasions (of which there are thankfully few). I've worn them with shorts, skinny jeans, leggings, jeggings, treggings, wide leg pants, and even a jersey maxi skirt. I've recently added some cropped skinny jeans to my wardrobe, and I will be wearing those with slip-on sneakers or low heeled ankle booties. I even changed out of my high heels at my sister's wedding and out on some black sneakers with a bit of a sparkle in the finish (don't worry, I did this well after I was certain all official photographs were done). Side note: I completely forgot to have somebody take my pic so I could show you guys how my crowd-sourced outfit turned out; I'm waiting on the official wedding photographs.
Since this is Texas and winter is relatively mild, my sneakers serve me well almost year-round. I do tend to wear boots a lot in the cooler months, but will still be keeping the sneakers in rotation all year.
Keep in mind that my lifestyle is uber casual and really rural. I don't walk around on the concrete trails of the urban jungle, I forget my own path through cow pastures and wooded areas most days. I work in a produce stand, so I don't have to worry about dressing for an office.
