Fashion showdown: toppers

Yesterday I edited my dresses and today I'm moving into toppers.

A few of these you all have weighed in on recently, but I wanted to include my whole topper wardrobe for compare/contrast purposes. I also made some surprising comfort realizations through quick fire jacket changes.

I thought a column of light gray might make a good backdrop to see the jackets against. Some of these would be worn with dresses.

2, 6, and 7 seem quite short - are they for wearing with dresses only? 14 looks too snug from the photo, although I'm assuming you probably would be wearing it only over summer dresses or something lightweight, so that might make a difference. I have a poison eye for most shades of brown so 15 is really not wowing me but take that as you will...

Thanks, Laura! I wonder if the tunic length top is making the jackets seem shorter proportioned? I'm barely 5'2" and often stumped by proper torso proportions.

I usually only wear 14 over loose, flowy dresses that need a little structure. It's very soft and comfy too. I'm not sure I can justify keeping 2.5 denim toppers though, and I think the darker one is more useful, although I grab the lighter one more.

Love 1 and 7!

I'm not a long sweater person, so I won't comment on those, but something seems off with the fit on 2 and 4. 10 looks kinda sloppy, and 14 looks a bit dated to me. Hope that's not too harsh.

Traci - I definitely think the top proportion is skewing the impression of the shorter jackets. They look too short in comparison to the tunic, but should work ok on shorter tops or dresses.

Liz, I think the shoulders are too wide in 2 and 4. I had noticed it on 2 myself and wondered if it would be pointed out here. I'm sad to look at 4 and see the shoulders so far out past my actual shoulders. I didn't notice it during pictures. The black blazers are dropping like flies!

Delurked, I believe you're right. I'll go back and take pics of the keepers with a simple dress and shorter top.

2, 3, 4, 10, 11, 14, 15 and 16 are ones that I think are not your best. I think the warm colors are lovely on you and I know black is so often a go-to as well. I really like you in the 2 warm cognac(y) ones. The light denim jacket does look quite short but, as you pointed out, with one base layer (and a long one at that), it skews the proportions. Some considerations I kept in mind as I looked: sleeve length, shoulder fit, color, and overall length. I like the color of the sweater in 15 but it just looks too big overall.

Rachy, I think you're onto something with identifying "saturated" colors working on me. It's not so much cool vs warm colors as saturated vs desaturated that makes the difference on me.

Yup, I would have chosen the same ones Traci, although I wonder if the cropped jean jacket might be useful with dresses.

I love the mustard, red, and green jackets and cardigans on you.

Well in the end I ordered #1 because of you Traci - but I won't get it until my sister comes in January (couldn't wear it until almost then anyway). Otherwise, carry one you are doing great!
