Fashion plays vital role in one's personality?Yes/No, Why?

Hi Ladies
Yesterday I was watching a local beauty pageant and during question answer round one of the contestant was asked this question by a lady judge.

And as per my old habit made up an answer by myself and would answer like this if I was that contestant and that I am sharing with you all ladies-

"Fashion does play a vital role in one's personality by enchancing one's look and confidence. It is a confidence booster and changes the way a person perceives you. No matter how great mind you have, no one will take you seriously if you are dressed shabily or bad. There is a saying that a people will remember the dress if you are badly dressed and the same people will remember the woman if you are nicely dressed."(maybe I would win the contest by this answer);-)

I would agree with everything you said and add on that fashion is an expression of who you are and sometimes that mood/attitude you have that day.

I think that's a nice answer! I think my answer might be along the lines of:

"I don't know that fashion plays a vital role in one's personality, but certainly one can express one's personality through fashion. Like it or not, we communicate through the fashion choices we make, and it's definitely a good idea to make conscious choices and decisions about what we are communicating. That's my practice when choosing how to dress for my various roles in life. However when interacting with other people I try to keep an open mind and not make snap judgments based on their fashion choices."
