Many thanks to Traci for starting this challenge. It's always nice to have a source of inspiration during the dog days of summer. I'm also particularly excited to play along because I'm not very familiar with most of the people on the list, and it will be fun to pick out the dominant features of their style.
I wasn't intending to start the challenge today, but by the time I put my hair in a top knot and put on a black shirt, I thought I might as well add some red lipstick and channel Gwen Stephani.
I have long admired elements of Gwen Stephani's style, even though her overall look is not for me. I had a brief love affair with bindis after seeing her wear them in the 90s and I am actually so enamored with her messy top knot that I intentionally keep my hair so short that I can't wear the style (otherwise I would be lazy wear it up everyday).
But Gwen has rocker, punk, and glam elements to her style that aren't really a part of my look. She also favors high contrast outfits (lots of white, black, and red) and sky-high heels. Again, not for me. A bright red lip tends look garish on my face and I am the WORST at remembering to wear sunglasses.
Nevertheless, I found a few items in my closet to play dress up this morning. For real life I removed the jacket (it is still summer, after all!) and wiped off the lipstick and added gloss for more of a stained red look. Kept the topknot because (heart emoji).
