Spent a pleasant afternoon shopping local B&M with a view to building up my swim capsule. Found a great suit at deep discount - likely due to a big metal buckle (designer’s logo) that weighed it down. (I found the same suit - unadorned - for 4 times what I paid!)
During the same trip, I found a replacement for my red cross body bag. (I don’t like the zipper that constantly scratches my hand. Prefer a flap.) The bag was on clearance. I suspect due to the heavy chain handle.
A few snips with the bolt cutters - and voila! A comfortable bathing suit and a
much lighter leather bag! Leaving the
plain belt band on the suit, because I like the waist detail, and using my old guitar strap on the bag. (There’s an attachable leather strap as well.)
I’ve successfully picked off logos, chest pockets, self belts and belt loops using a seam ripper - and hacked the bottoms of jeans - but I can’t ever remember using a bolt cutters on an item of fashion!
What are your favourite hacks, when an item has potential, but doesn’t quite work? Do you pass, or take a chance?
