My purse collection is small and functional: a large black Pliage for travel/commuting, a small black crossbody with a silver chain top handle, a silver metallic clutch for parties, and a fanny pack for running errands. More often, I tote a large canvas bag because heading out is frequently synonymous with running errands. I’ll be the first to admit that even though I put a lot of care and consideration in choosing my bags, my collection isn’t exciting or glamorous, but practical and timeless.

That may come to an end.

I found a purse (which shall remain anonymous for now) online in the most gorgeous colour, which would break a ~15 year streak of neutral bags. I had an opportunity to look at different models today, and the real life colour was pretty close to what I saw depicted online. This colour just evoked and brought to the fore my style descriptors —not necessarily descriptors you’d see reflected in my more practical, quotidian outfits, but ones that I feel are more me.

Has this ever happened to you? And did you go home with the purse?
