Hi ladies! missed you lots! I need your help.

At the last minute, my boss sprung the news on me that he needs my help at an arbitration in...Oahu! Now, I'm not complaining about the trip at all, but I somehow have to pull together a wardrobe for 5+ days. I have very little for warm weather. My dresses/ skirts are either too hot or too casual. Same with my skirts.

I'm willing to buy things, but they have to be readily available and not too expensive.

What would you pack? Can you give me some inspiration/ advice?

I think so. I probably will take a blazer and closed toe shoes...so on the dressier side, but not extremely conservative.

Wow, Amy -- that's amazing! But what a challenge!

First -- do you have ANYTHING that you like that is appropriate? It might be helpful to start with one piece as a base and build a small capsule out from it. And do you know if there will be social time, also? Plus...don't forget the effects of frigid air conditioning. It may be hot outside...but inside is a different story.

I suggest

- 2 lighter weight, summer dresses that can be dressed up or down. Cotton jersey or linen. J Crew has nice options.
- 2 pairs of light capris or long pants. Gap or JCrew.
- 3 button-down shirts or nice blouses to wear with the capris.
- 2 cardigans you can mix and match over the dresses or blouses
- one scarf or wrap
- three pairs of shoes: sandals, pumps, casual shoes

Oooh, so excited for you! And yes, I can attest to frigid air conditioning all over Hawaii, but most especially in hotels. They are the worst!

I'm thinking knitted tube skirts, knit tops and Summer blazers - because you can get those NOW at Nordies. Online shopping is not an option because you have to pack on Thursday.

The telegraph pencil skirt at J.Crew is a good idea too - sufficient length for your long gams.

Dresses are a great option, but I worry about the length - and we are between seasons. Actually, you'll be able to wear your Seattle dresses there in arctic a/c.

I have an orange skirt, a white sleeveless shell and two silk sleeveless tops in aqua and red. I've got the shoes.

I like Dana's/Angie's plans. I think I can do something like that.

There will be some socializing times, etc., but that's less stressful for me.

Don't forget to pack your swim suit and coverup. Have a great time. It's been awhile since I've been to Hawaii, and never Oahu, but I never encountered any air conditioning. Hotels and other buildings were open to the outdoors and temperatures were lovely.

It sounds like you actually have a great base, Amy. I love the idea of a tube skirt and/ or cotton jersey or linen jersey dresses -- easy to pack and no worries.

I like the tube skirt and summery jacket ideas. The GAP linen blend pants are fun as a pants option, too. .

This sounds like a capsule I need , or need to need-- the 5-day emergency trip to Oahu capsule.

So jealous, but you sound sorted for your capsule. I echo what Joy said about the temperature and AC. Oahu is pretty casual and you may be taken away with the lovely local prints. Please have a Mai Tai for me at a House without a Key! So beautiful (and delicious).

Amy, what size are you? I have a pair of tan linen trousers in size 32 that I'm not using this summer. Nice higher rise with a side zip. Eta, link to photo:
