I have been asked to participate in an drawing exhibition that involves a collaboration between a visual artist and someone in another field. An example would be a painter working with a poet, creating work that expresses what the poet evokes through words. This would involve both contributors to the work exhibiting or reading (in the case of the poet) at the opening. I was thinking of trying to connect with a contemporary fashion designer and doing a drawing or series of drawings related to the focus and mood of their collection. They would have their work on display throughout the length of the exhibit. This is all in very early stages, the show would be next November. My colleagues will likely be doing far more academic and intellectual work but I thought it would be fun to showcase the artistic side of fashion. Does anyone have thoughts about art and fashion in general or specifically related to this project?
