Farewelling my MIL

Hi Lovely Ladies,

Popping by to share some news. Some of you will know that we relocated 6 years ago to be closer to my husbands parents and that I have been blessed with the most amazing mother in law.

I have share in the past as she has had health challenges and my friendships here have always been a wonderful source of strength and encouragement. So I wanted to share that my MIL passed away last Saturday evening and we fare welled her today.

It was a beautiful day. Sadness but also Joy, as she was very ready to leave this world and join her beloved husband who passed not long after we moved here.

I am going to miss her so much and am so very grateful for all she has invested into my life.

This was me and DH before we left for the service. I hope it's not weird that we look so happy but we were excited to be able to celebrate a life well lived and to honour her today.

I am sorry for your loss Deborah. From some previous posts of yours I had understood that your mother in law was an amazing, loving woman. You and your family have been lucky to have her in your life. Hugs.

No, not weird at all. It's the right time to share good memories and gratitude for a life well lived. That's a lovely legacy. A gift to be cherished. The peace of heaven and earth be with her and you.

Deborah when my mother died I felt a sense of relief. She had expressed several times that she was ready to go. My siblings and their partners all felt happy for her. I don't think it is weird at all.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I was as close to my MIL as I was to my own mother, and when she passed, it was difficult even though she had a myriad of health problems and was already wanting to go. It is indeed a blessing to have a great relationship with in-laws, and you'll always have precious memories to cling to. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Lyn D thanks so much. And I saw your lovely message on FB. It was a beautiful day and I am sure it was your thoughts and others that helped us through.

Aquamarine, thank you and so true. Hers was an inspiring life and I even learnt some things that I was not aware of it. Some very lovely stores were shared on the day.

Thanks so much Joy. During the time we have been living closer, our relationship really grew and developed and I am very grateful for that.

Deborah, I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds as if you had a wonderful relationship with your MIL, and I'm glad that you were able to celebrate her life in a positive way despite the fact that you will miss her so much.

Deborah, I've only just seen this. I understand how you feel. My father died in April and I was sad because I never got to spend as much time with him as I thought I would after moving to the Sunshine Coast late last year and of course I will miss him. However he had been saying for sometime that he was ready to go and as he had mild dementia I am glad he didn't suffer a long decline.

Its fantastic that you had such a great relationship with your MIL and although you will miss her, you will have the love and memories forever.

Deb, I get it! I felt so much joy at my own mother's passing as she was ready to join my father who had passed 30 yrs before. When a life is well lived it truly is easy to feel joy for them.. Of course as it sinks in , the mourning will come so take good care of yourselves.
