We said goodbye to our feline baby today. His name was Skittles and he was given to me by a friend for my birthday 15 years ago. We were a little concerned about him recently as he had gotten very thin. It appeared that he lost his vision on Wednesday when he suddenly started bumping into everything. We took him to the vet today and unfortunately he was suffering from kidney failure and our vet advised that the most humane thing to do was to euthanase.
My two kids are inconsolable and DH and I are heart broken too - he was my baby before I had babies. This is the first real loss that the kids have experienced and we are doing our best to help them process it.
