False Spring!

‘Tis the Season False Spring! Very hot and sunny for a few hours in the afternoon. Lilypup and I did a longer walk, meandering the neighborhood. One of the shops had a new window done in mauves. I sorta liked it, altho admittedly I was hating on my dusty pinks earlier this week. I have an on-off relationship with this colour, and I think it may have to do with light. Today it seemed a nice way to introduce some colour without feeling out of a season... or that it was pleasantly in-between like the season itself.

Anyways, this has been the local fashion weather report Do you think mauve looks better at certain times than others?

I like mauve all the time. I am one who wears any color any time of year without seasonal associations. I wear whatever strikes my fancy but I do get your perspective on it working transitionally.

I just ordered my first wig in a very pale dusty pink, tonight.

I used to love a dusty pink/mauve but got tired of it. It seems a color for fall with earth tones or deep winter to add a bit of color to black, grey or brown. I wore my dusty pink wool JC stadium coat with black to church today.

I love mauve and dusty lilac and feel that they can work in any season, depending on what colors they’re paired with. Sadly they look terrible on me

I really like mauve. I wear it when I want a bit more soothing, calmer outfit as a change to bright colours and jewel tones. I like to combine it with black or white. I wear it in different seasons as I have both summer and winter items as well as scarves in this colour.

I am not particularly drawn to it - one scarf, and one beach or casual dress. I like it worn in an unconventional way ie I don’t think I would choose a cardigan in the colour.

I think mauve is more muted then lilac? And where does lavender fit in? More blue?

I think of mauve as more muted, greyish. Lilac and lavender I feel are more blue and clearer... but when I googled, lilac definitely showed up in the results...

I'm very fond of a grayish lilac color, though it is not represented in the color palette you showed. Whenever I think of mauve, I think of a color called Ashes of Roses. Years ago after returning to the US from working in Europe, we sublet an apartment where the the double living room was painted mauve. It was very beautiful.

Re mauve: I love the color, but it doesn't love me back. I need to go more toward taupe to get the right color balance.

Jade/ teal/ turquoise/ aqua/ sea green/ peacock - all somewhere between blue and green.....

Mauve/lilac/ lavender

Fuschia/ orchid

Tan/ beige/ camel/toffee/ caramel

Ink blue/ navy blue

Some names sound more modern, but when I say camel you may think beige? My teal might be your jade etc...,

Like Opaline, I wear whatever colour tickles my fancy throughout the year.

As for mauve, Rachy. It's fab on freckled red heads.

Colour names are so... mystifying! Lol. I saw Tobacco used today for that tan/caramel/etc category, and I thought to myself, who knows what tobacco is nowadays let alone what colour that might be? Lol.

I think soft colours like mauve look best in summer and autumn. Generally, spring and winter call for clear colours. Of course, some people (often those classified as Summers, with soft, cool colourings) look beautiful in mauve year round. As for myself, I need clear colours.

What Angie said. I had a dusty mauve suit I called my 'power suit'. Whenever I wore it, I got what I asked for - the job, the raise, the grant - it was scary! It is a hard colour to find, and I don't have any in my closet at the moment.

i think of teal (dark teal, not turquoise) as a universally great colour for bathing suits on anyone.

My brother painted the interior of his house a colour called 'Sugar Cookie'. I would love to have a job naming paints, or nail varnish...

Yes the light does make a difference - I don't really dress seasonally but every now and then I feel my colours are out of sync.

Be careful of the 1980s shows Rachy - there are some interesting morals in The Thorn Birds - and Lace .....and Flowers in the Attic. We were a debauched lot.

I love the dusky pinks and mauves. That dusky pink especially. Any time of year.

How about watching Monkey / Monkey Magic with Tripitaka. I would think that might be less controversial in today’s terms.... hopefully!

I prefer wearing lilac to mauve. I like mauve on others, it just is not a great colour on me.

Mauve and it’s cousins do not work for me, but I can appreciate them on others where it can be outstanding color. They seem to be a bit more available right now. Glad you and Lilypup got a reprieve in the weather, if only for a short time.
