So, I managed to go through my closet and take a good hard look at what I have for fall/winter, try on a whole bunch of combinations, and think about how some of my more recent purchases (like my VC midi skirts) can transition to the new season. And it was interesting! Here's what I learned:
* I am definitely going through a style transition toward a more sleek/arty/sophisticated look
* I'm LOVING the voluminous top over fitted bottom silhouette
* I'm LOVING skinnies, cigarette pants, slim midi skirts, and booties
* I'm feeling less love for my bootcuts and knee-length skirts
* If I wear bootcuts, they have to be balanced by some structured or fitted top
* If I wear volume on top, it has to be balanced by a slim/fitted bottom (OR possibly by bootcuts worn with heels; in other words: no volume on top with bootcuts and flats)
* I'm still loving dresses, jackets, scarves, tall boots, and flats
* I'm still loving neutrals more than color (especially in cooler weather)
* I'm feeling the love for simpler jewelry (one necklace instead of the multiples I used to prefer)
* I have a FABULOUS shoe/boot/booties collection and really don't need any more!
It's so fascinating how my taste is shifting toward the midi/skinny pant silhouette after proclaiming myself such an avowed lover of bootcuts/70's looks. Don't get me wrong, I still love my bootcuts. Bootcuts + jacket/fitted top + boots + scarf is and probably always will be one of my signature go-to looks for cool weather.....but I am definitely feeling the love for more modern silhouettes. And I have YLF and Angie's gentle guidance to thank for it!
More later......
