Fall Wish List - Pashminas - YouLookFab Forum

On the Fall Wish List thread a number of people mentioned they were looking for pashminas to wear as scarves (myself included). During the last few weeks I've been bookmarking what I have found, and noticed today that I already have a long list of links, so I thought I'd share them with you.

I'm not sure all of them qualify as 'pashminas'. For me, a pashmina is either 100% cashmere (which can be ridiculously expensive, hence the prices of some of the items below) or at least a blend of cashmere with silk or wool, and larger than a 'normal' scarf (I've been known to use them as a blanket on several occasions). But you'll find a few others here as well. There are scarves, wraps and shawls. I've discovered that there are a lot of plain pashminas out there, a number of 'jacquard' prints, a few animal prints, and a few chequered ones but not that many other (beautiful & original) prints or patterns. So my hunt is not over yet!

holy cannoli! you were busy! i adore pashminas and am on a mission to get one soon. i bought a wide coral-ish red linen scarf from H&M a few weeks ago that i love, although it probably isn't as warm as a pukka pashmina.

Grin Shell, I feel like a complete geek about this now. Oh well, there's worse things in life than being a pashmina-geek right?-)

The H&M scarf sounds great, a girl can always use an extra scarf if you ask me.

Inge, you have found some great ones. How are you going to choose? I would wear the bloomies one for sure.

I knew other people were looking for one as well, so not all the ones that I had bookmarked are patterns/colours/prints that I would choose for myself. That narrows it down a bit.

The bloomies one and the Tessuti are two of my favourites, and I'm pining for a magnificent Kenzo scarf I saw in a boutique here (I can't seem to find Kenzo scarves anywhere online, so I can't show you - and I don't even know if it was cashmere or not, although the price tag would suggest that:-). Kenzo has a knack for combining several vibrant colours into a very stylish whole. Yum!

I love pashminis too (sans fringe). I have a few that I’ve been wearing for years and I continue to wear every season. They cost a lot at the time but they were worth every penny and I still get complimented on them. They are a good neck-shortner – I have a giraffe like neck.

Love the one you picked for me. I’d cut off the fringe and wear the cream. I also like the one by ronherman. I do not like the wording on this scarf, but I love the effect. I can see it working into my wardrobe really well.

Wow Inge, fantastic work! I’d never even heard of a Pashmina until I came here, but I do love scarves of all kinds. Unfortunately, I don’t think I can afford any of these, but a Pashmina is not on my wish list. I’ll admire them on you ladies who can afford them. As much as I love them, scarves in general are so expensive that I’ve considered making my own. They look very easy to sew, especially without fringe. Other than that, I will probably stick to fleece scarves that cost under $20 from places like Wal-Mart. I am drooling over the stuff on scotsweb. They have my family tartan in some things. The JC scarf is fun too, but like you, I'm not keen on words all over my scarf.

Sarah: wow your family tartan! Then you simply must have one of those scarves! (maybe you could start dropping hints to family and friends, still plenty of time left before Christmas;-)

And the Nimli site seems to have quite a few more affordable scarves (not all pashminas, but you said you weren't specifically looking for one anyway). They have great colours too.
