Fall texture and the Mango suede moto jacket: yay or nay?

I'm on OctNOber, but this was ordered in Shoptember:)

Initially I thought it looked too bulky and hardware-y (kind of like in pic #1). I'm also not sure about the fit across the back of my shoulders as seen in pic #2. But in the last 2 photos, it looks OK. Finally, how is the color? This is the cognac version, but there was also a cool-toned chocolate available with less shiny hardware.

Thoughts? My closet and my budget need it to be a 10 or it's going back.

Hmm, I don't think it IS too big but it looks big somehow. Then again, roomier jackets are on trend, yes? I'm trying to figure out if it's too much like those late 80s bomber jackets. The color is perfect on you. The hardware is a bit shiny, but adds interest - is it your style?

I love the color and it seems like the fit is a little on the roomy side. The hardware did catch my eye in the first photo, not that it's a bad thing. I'm not much help, am I?

LOL, you're both too funny! It sounds like you might be seeing what I'm seeing. I definitely can't size down or the armholes will be too tight.

I'm waiting for someone else to chime in. I'm leaning toward nay because I think something with less bells and whistles/more Ralph Lauren might be better for you. This has a bit of an Eddie Bauer feel, not a bad thing but a different vibe somehow.

It looks too big around the arm scythe (arm hole) to me, but I have a thing about it - so if it doesn't bother you take no notice.

I don't trust my own opinion but I'm going to throw it out there anyway. I like it a lot in 4. It looks kind of roomy in the other pics--especially the back shoulders. I think I'm used to seeing you in more tailored classic pieces. The color is beautiful and the gold hardware adds some zing. It looks like something you could dress up and down.

Would you always be wearing something the weight and thickness of that sweater? If no, I would try again with different underlayers. Also, I'm assuming you don't plan to wear it with skirts or dresses? It looks to be more of a pants/jeans jacket.

I like the jacket and the color . The fit is very roomy.
I would say it depends what kind of look you wanna go with this . It looks the perfect jacket if you want to go for a more men inspired look, like the 90's look but modernized(if this makes sense).
But if you want a moto jacket that is more feminine this is not the jacket for you.

i kinda love it !! all outfit together is not that roomy ...but to say if it's a nay u have to post a pic with the jacket closed so we can see the versatility !!!

I would only say things as unhelpful as the rest. YOU look great, however, whatever the verdict on the jacket.

I bought the jacket in navy blue and I sized down. I probably can´t wear it over a pullover now, but I intend to wear it instead of a blazer. You look good in it, though.

I think it might be a bit too bulky for you. I mean you look great but you are obviously feeling it's a bit big and most seem to be agreeing so might as well keep looking to find something even better.

Thanks for your thoughts. What I think many of you are seeing is what I see too: that it fits but somehow is too bulky still. I ordered a Small thinking it would be too small as this is Mango after all. And I definitely can't go any smaller as the armholes are very fitted already (despite what it looks like in the pic). I'm wondering if a true moto style just isn't for me since the overlapping front adds bulk just like a double-breasted jacket does?

Since it's feeling like 7 at best, I think I'll return and continue the hunt!

ok...i am a dissenter because this is soooo YAY to me. the slight oversized look feels more on trend that a more fitted one.

i would like to see it with other types of outfits like skirts or dresses or other ways you might wear it. that would be what justifies the expense for me--the versatility of the piece. the fit, color, hardware all look great.

I also like this on you. A lot of people on the forum wear their moto extremely fitted, but it doesn't have to be like that. I only wear my cropped leather jacket very fitted and the other ones are more relaxed like this. Angie also mentioned something about this in the last week or so--that it is not necessary to be super fitted with these jackets and used her own blush moto as an example, but I can't remember exactly where I read that. Maybe search the recent leather and waxed jacket threads to find it.

I like it, but the cut seems bulky even though I understand that it fits you. Some jackets are just like that. The leather is gorgeous and the hardware is fun. I'd love to see the chocolate on you too.

Hey there! I saw your pictures, read all the comments and then saw the pictures again so that I wouldn't miss anything and my opinion is that you should keep the jacket. Granted it's not the very fitted classic moto jacket, but I think this would definitely work well with a fitted bottom, like a slim pencil skirt, a fitted dress or skinny jeans like you have on in the photographs. Also you can wear a thicker layer inside, which means you get more mileage off the jacket as you can almost wear it into winter if it's not as harsh where you live. This sounds like I'm justifying the piece just for you to keep it, but I do think it fits well at the shoulders and has a boyfriend vibe to it, in the looser- in- appearance.

I like it on you. How does it fit when zipped? I like the color, great with denim and the shoulders look perfect. But you have to be happy. If you love it then keep it. Otherwise, back to the drawing board.

Not to confuse you but I really like it too. The color is beautiful and I especially like the fit. The only thing I question is the hardware and if you like gold, then that's not an issue. Angie?

I like it. However the jacket itself is not a 10. The workmanship/fit is not a 10. It has nothing to do with the way it looks on you, you look gorgeous in it. It's the item itself.
