fall knitting - YouLookFab Forum

Denise asked me yesterday what I was planning on knitting for fall... so I thought I would share what is in my queue. Obviously I am not going to knit all of these things this fall, but they are all things I am interested in... also, I am trying not to buy so much more yarn these days so it will be in part determined by what I have in my stash.

1. Copycat of these Eileen fisher gauntlets. Already have yarn earmarked for this in blue and brown.

2. A chunky convertible wrap-like thing. Fast to knit.

3. Drapey double layered laceweight shell.

4. Equestrian blazer. Not sure this is going to work, may be too floppy. Will have to experiment with yarns first.

5-6. Bicolored cardigans, one drapey and one more structured.

7. An architectural, reversible wrap sweater.

8-10: skirts. Not sure which ones (if any) I will end up making.

11: cloche hat.

12: stainless steel cravat. Pain to knit with but so cool!

13. asymmetrical vest. NOT going to knit this in SSB!

14. a tea cosy! with sheep!

Ooh, I just looked up your queue on Ravelry. Thank you so much for sharing your planned knits with us. What strikes me about all of them them is how well they fit into your style. Also, I consider myself an advanced knitter but I wouldn't have the guts to tackle several of your projects. I bow down (figuratively) to your superior knitting abilities.

I confess to having almost entirely abandoned knitting and rarely wearing my handknits since I discovered YLF. While most of what I knit has been pretty, I just don't feel fab in them anymore.

I really need to identify stylish knits that are my style so I can start knitting for myself again.

What Sylvie said! I rarely wear my handknits. I'm so impressed at how well your choices suit your style. I feel like I'm still just a sucker for styling. I'll knit something and when it's done, I think I would never have paid money for this. It's a good thing I enjoy the process....

You've picked some gorgeous items, Diana, that are all very you. And I'm totally in awe of people who can actually knit things that are fabulous enough to wear!-) Please keep us posted and post pics of you sporting your self-made knitwear?

By the way, this is not counting the vest I currently have on the needles, the 90% finished tunic that I set aside when it got hot, the 98% finished top (literally just needs to have the collar sewn in, don't know why I haven't gotten around to it), the scarf which has become a slog and which will be of limited use (it's made of... what is essentially paper), or the fair isle cowl that is basically completed but has a fatal flaw that I haven't figured out how to fix yet. I am so tempted to start one of these new projects instead though!

Such beautiful things, Diana! I haven't picked up my knitting in months. I'm in the same boat as Sylvie and kellygirl. Must figure out how to move past that. I enjoy knitting so much.

Wow, very impressive! My mother-in-law just taught me how to knit a scarf, so I am working on my first one. I love them all, but the tea cosy made me smile

I really should knit a couple more pairs of knee highs. Storebought ones are always too tight in the calves. I have to admit that I don't really like knitting socks though and I have to be in the right mood...

BTW, I am in love with #6 and have added it to my favorites on Ravelry. Whenever you do start it, let me know if you want to do a mini-knitalong.

So amazing! Can't wait to see your finished products. I finally picked up the needles and yarn I bought last year in my attempt to learn how to knit. Checked out some library books and ready to learn finally. I love every single one of your choices. Too cool!

Diana, I don't like to knit socks either, but I really like knitting mittens and handwarmers. Talk about not making any sense, huh? The gauntlets in the link that alaskagirl posted are way cool. They'd be great with my leather jacket and moto boots.

I am placing an order for the skirt in #8! Diana you are clearly a very talented knitter (and of course that is evidenced by the gaments you have shown us prior). You have actually opened up a new world to me. I think 'knitted' and I think sweaters and scarves... not any more.
