face shape and hairstyle suggestions

I had some photos taken this weekend for a new passport, so I wanted to post them here and get feedback on two things: one, what kind of face shape do I have? I always thought I had an oval or round face, and that's often what people tell me, but here my face looks more oblong/square. And second, any suggestions on hairstyle? I'm finding that I'm often unhappy with the way my hair/forehead interact. I don't want bangs per se, but I wish I had some more hair covering the sides of my forehead, even just a little bit. Often my hair just sits flat on top. Now that I think about it, I think the best thing would probably be to part my hair to the side, but my hair doesn't seem to want to do that, so suggestions on how to keep it that way would be appreciated too.

You have a beautiful somewhat oval face that curves around the lower cheeks and is slightly fuller right there. In no way is your face oblong! You have beautiful brows and eyes and I think you can wear your hair in a variety of ways. Do you wear your hair up? You have lovely collarbones and wearing your hair up would play them up.. I understand your reluctance to cut bangs because you're sort of committed to them at that point but I do think they would be lovely on you! Your hair looks wavy and thick. Have you thought of a few layers to just release the curl just a little bit?

I think you would be happy with some long layers around your face. I don't have bangs, but I have shorter pieces (around tip-of-nose length at the shortest, then progressively longer). When I push the shorter pieces to the side to get them out of my face, it creates volume and covers part of my forehead.

Very few people could look as gorgeous as you with no makeup and long hair parted in the middle.

I think the layers would address your two concerns, to add volume and to change the hair to forehead relationship!

I too have hair that naturally parts in the middle, but I've managed to somewhat train it to part on the fuller (ie harder to sustain) side by first parting, then clipping in place behind the year and tying back. It does take a while to come round though, but I can now just let it lie after parting it. And you're right --- it does fall forward slightly over the forehead that way, and also adds a bit of height.

I'm going to second the suggestion for face-framing 'locks' as well, which too you can sweep across your forehead to tuck behind your ear if you like, or clip to a side, or just let them swing forward to cup your face (that too will hide the hairline at the temples).

thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I actually do have layers in my haircut but perhaps they're not short enough to have that forehead masking effect. And Manidipa, thanks for the suggestions on how to train my hair to part differently!

First off you are beautiful! And that hair is just gorgeous. Keep it long!

You seem to me to have an oval face.

Although I find the way it sits on your head very pretty, I suggest you try the following to lift the roots a little off your scalp:

With a dry body brush (natural bristles), gently massage your scalp in soft circles while bending over. Slowly work throughout the whole scalp, including neck, temples and forehead.

Do this every day, either before bed or before morning shower. Be gentle. Your hair will stand differently at the roots, adding volume. It takes about a week, but you may see results right away.

I think you have oval face that maybe leaning toward heart. I think bangs and some layering in the front would be wondeful on you. From personal experience-i had bangs when I was a teen(14-15) and it was a la Farrah Facett. Since those kind of bangs looked horrible, I decided that it meant that ALL bangs were horrible on me. Spent the next 20 years with no bangs until my stylist talked me into it. Little did I realized that I looked fab in bangs and I actually look BETTER in bangs than without. Currently I have eyebrow lengh sidesweept bangs and I think you should dry something simular. Those are flattering on almost every face shape.
As for layers, I think if you start under your chin and add few more from there, it will VERY flattering on you
