Fabulous or Just Furry?

There's a new line being sold in Canadian Sears (Attitude by Jay Manuel) that I'm kinda liking. I've purchased a pair of dress pants, a dress, a blouse and a tank - the quality and fit are excellent for such budget -friendly items. His faux fur vest just came out and I think I like it. It's different than others I have seen. But maybe I'm losing my mind??? Is it fabulous? Or just furry?

(and why does the androgynous model look so angry...maybe she's too hot in the furry vest???)

Seriously, why IS she so mad??!
Others will have better and more informed opinions, because I'm new to faux fur vest, but it's not really my cup of tea. Again, I'm biased, but it's a bit furry to me.

I think you'd have to try it on. Some of these models are over 6ft and thin as a rail, so it's hard to tell how it's going to look on a real human. It looks a little boxy to me but you never know. It's not screaming out fabulous.

I like it but I think you need to have a tall angular look to pull it off.

I've been wanting to check out Jay Manuel's line! Personally, I think the vest is fierce and fun - but definitely something to try on first and assess from there. It looks quite long. I can see this as a throw-on piece when the weather gets chillier.

I like that the fur is short and streamlined and it is not too fluffy or hairy. I would like to see something shorter for a petite.

I've been watching a furry vest at Kohl's. It's long like this one but it has knit inserts at the side which breaks up the furriness of it all. Plus it has a sweet chiffon trim around it. The fur nap is quite short so it doesn't feel like you are a wookie in it. And pockets. It has POCKETS!

I guess my concerns about it are that it is long....covers the tooshie. And the color is quite warm gray/beige and its not good on me. So its not perfect. But I like that the nap is short so its not so bulky looking.

I really want to get a furry vest, but that's not the one I'd personally choose. Maybe it's the very wide shoulders that are throwing off the proportion to my eye.

OMG - I just came back from Sears. Had to go and try on the furry vest. Good grief - IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! I looked like an Ewok in it (picture 5'1" and covered in fur!). It was NOT a good look. But I had a good laugh while looking in the mirror and then went and got a skinny pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks...still a good evening.

P.S. Maybe the model looked angry in the picture because she too felt like an Ewok and did not want her picture taken!

I agree with Angie - it's a tad long. I do like the color/pattern, but I think fitted and shorter would be better. That model DOES look mad. You're not supposed to smile when you're modeling....

LOL about the Ewok comment.

Is the designer the same Jay Manuel of America's Next Top Model fame?

Egads! I just tried on a faux fur vest at JC Penney and felt like Chewbacca, which is worse than one of those cute little Ewoks. *SIGH*

I may just check out the local fabric store and design a fitted version that hits at the hipbone.
