Fab or Shab Wardrobes Aside: Could you be on WNTW?

Putting away fashion police badges: This question does not pertain to whether you SHOULD be on WNTW. It merely is a hypothetical inquiry:

Could you be on WNTW and give up your entire current wardrobe for $5000 to spend on a brand new wardrobe? Nothing from your current closet would be spared. All would be piled in a heap and carted off to charity.

Follow-up: If you could be on there and spare ONE item, what would it be? Or is it a complete deal breaker?

At this point I'm pretty happy with my wardrobe, so I'll say no. But I've been on a huge shopping spree lately! If you'd caught me, say, 3 months ago I'd have said "hell, yes!"

Only problem would be I'd probably die of shame during the "gotcha!" portion of the festivities...

A few years ago - absolutely YES! Now, NO! But, if I was forced to do it - and give up my entire wardrobe except for one item - I'd probably choose my black tuxedo jacket or my faux fur leopard jacket! Wait, do I have to give up my shoes and handbags also???? Oh no - then I can't decide what item I'd hang onto!

Never, I mostly love my wardrobe! If there was a show in which they took a mostly complete wardrobe and showed its owner how to take it from average to FAB, I would love to be on that.

I think I could do it. It'd be hard knowing how much time has gone into creating my wardrobe but $5,000 would go a long, long way!

I didn't think that this question would be hard......I don't know.

First, I HATE shopping and they would have to sedate me. Second, I don't feel that I need to replace my clothes, but I would love to add.

However, though I love most of my stuff, I don't feel that anything is irreplaceable - so I wouldn't mind a more modern twist on everything. Now, if you said I had to get rid of my jewelry, even the cheap, costume stuff, that would be a definitive NO. (Though I would LOVE a free $450 haircut and some David Yurman.)

BTW, speaking of the $450 haircut, I was in NYC a couple of years ago and actually looked into having a makeup session with Carmindy. At the time she was charging a thousand bucks. I, uh, passed.

I could never do it. My wardrobe costs more than $5000, so it would be too much of a sacrifice, and I have too many pieces I love. I would also be devastated if someone took away my shoe collection.

More than that, I don't have the emotional strength to be criticized on television. I know someone who was on WNTW and the entire episode I thought "she is showing so much strength by allowing them to harp on her without bursting into tears or getting defensive." I don't think I could handle it.

Great questions! I'd do it in a Heart. Beat. No questions asked. If I could keep one item, it would be my new shiny black boots. But I'd do it even if I had to give those up. Hello Bandolino store! It would be worth it just to see what magic Carmindy could do, not to mention how fun it would be to shop in New York with help. Sign me up!

No, I could not. I may not have it "all together" with my wardrobe yet, but I definitely own more than $5000 when adding up clothes/footwear/coats/accessories. Some items new, some items older, and others WAY too sentimental to ever replace. You would have to knock me unconscious and get a new identity if you ever took away my cowboy boots.

I think the hardest part for me would be actually buying the new wardrobe all at once. I like to take my time, sort through all the options, and be particular about colors. So right now I'm leaning towards no. However if I had a year to make the transition, then certainly!

Absolutely not. Having S&C in the driver's seat would be disastrous. Their ideas of style and mine are not compatible at all.

And yeah, giving away my Stuart Weitzman boots? Fat chance.

At one time it would have been tempting, but now it would be very tough. I have a lot of cherished bargain items in my closet that fit AND are well made, and were bought on sale marked down to a "reasonable" (to me) price, but it would be quite expensive if I had to buy an equivalent item at full retail price. Parting with some of my favorite dresses and jackets would break my heart.
If I could only salvage one item, it would definitely be my cognac Rockport boots. I got them for $55 and had no idea what a steal they were until they shot back up in price the week afterwards. I love them and wear them at least weekly (except in warm weather.)
Also - I'd only play if I could have Angie be my WNTW stylist!

If I wouldn't be broadcast (read public humiliation), I would. I think it is a lot of fun to have someone judge your style and give feedback. It would also be a nice challenge to work a new set of style guidelines for my personality. I've only seen the show once on the plane so I'm really speaking out of generalization of what I've seen on that one episode.

Yes I would. The combination of being relatively new on my fashion journey and the body changes I have gone through in the past year make this an easy decision. The one item I would keep? My Candela NYC lace oxfords.
