I noticed her too, and I love it!
Jjsloane - as for the Madewell to J Crew relationship, I'd say: Madewell is much more specifically trendy, aimed at a certain cool girl aesthetic. Quality is often actually higher than J Crew, and prices reflect it (things usually stay at full price). J Crew is caught in an unfortunate dilemma where their sales decreased, so they slashed prices, so they had to skimp on quality, customers were frustrated, and the cycle continues. I get the sense that Madewell's sales are impressively strong. They're the It brand for a certain demographic though I don't know if that demographic is upper middle class teens, urban twentysomethings, or what... Their stuff often feels young on me but I still find a few gems here and there. Salespeople there are quite friendly to me, but I do stick out as an older customer with edgier style.
Regarding fit, at the lower end of the size range I'd say they're about the same, though I have no idea about other sizes. Madewell's style is more often relaxed cuts. J Crew used to be too straight-cut for me - cut for long skinny arms, long flat torso. Madewell has always fit my shorter, curvier frame better - but sizing is often inconsistent. Their jeans run large in my experience.
